Why do Muslims post statements and anybody who dissents or provokes debate to ones own religion receives an "Eff you" or a "You ignorant b*otch."
If someone can't provide to support their own statements, isn't that clearly blind faith? If an individual doesn't allow dissent or debate, isn't it clear that this indvidual is insular--not open to other ideas, opinions, etc.

Most of you have not answered the question...or even responded anything relavent to the question.
The question has been strictly written regarding debate in Islam, not about democracy or who are well-know Muslim scientist. Stick to the question, it is not ambiguous.

First I should say that I am a Muslim and all my friend and relatives are. I am from Islamic republic of Iran.
And I have to say that unfortunately I am with you in this issue!
Being defensive and ignorance is characteristics of strict religious believes.
Making something holly is really ignorance. I am a Muslim and I respect prophet Mohammad but the wrong part is making him so holly so that no body can talk about it! Someone may be proud of it but that is the biggest and greatest mistake they do.
Why Muslims are killed in Iraq by other Muslims? Why Iranian government is controlling people by playing with they beliefs? Why something should be so holly that you can not even think about it? Isn't it ignorance?
To be honest with you, it is. And it is not only Islam. The same think was in Europe in middle ages. Making something holly is ignorance and is what ignorant people need.
Here, in Iran Mullahs have made themselves holly in conjunction to prophet and a couple of things. This gives them the power to control everything. If you say something harmfully to them or even if you think of it, it can be against holly things and you have to be controlled.
I am sure that if you were pushing christian ideas, Jews ideas, Buddhian ideas or even devil ideas in a strict Muslim's brain from childhood instead of Islam beliefs, he would be a strict one in that idea.

the majority of the Muslims are quite willing to debate. but look again at the responses and the comments they receive on this site. The Christers think they have it rough from the atheists but they should try posting as an Islamic and see what that is like. The Christians and the atheists are never able to reach the level of foaming mouth insanity that the anti Islamic radicals on this site rise to.
So they simply do not post to often and only to questions that are sincere.
try posting an Islamic question in sincerity and see what I mean
Edit: look through these answers and you will see what I am talking about

It is time to realize that the way some people behave is not exactly the way their religion aks them to behave. However what is happning is that when some people want to acquire power, they use religions to their benifit. The history of mankind will provide many examples to support this.
Some religious leaders of today have use the word of their great philosopher for their own benefit. In England, Robin Hood is a real hearo who fought against the oppression of the Church. But today his character is been branded as a crazy bandit by some of the people still believes that he is a HERO who supported the the poor ). See the movies made on Robin Hood include recently and get a feeling as to what goes on.
So under the cirmstances, if you want to discuss about religions, you must have to free yourself from your religious framework in order to find the best solution for dying questions.
Also what we should try to understand is that we should have our own gods....But for the peopoe there is only one; must be given the opportunity to see the world without wearig the glasses .

DID YOU KNOW THAT AS MANY AS 400 SCIENTISTS HAVE ACCEPTED THE MUSLIM RELIGION AS THE ONLY TRUE FAITH? muslims dont get the recognition they deserve, but still it is the fastest growing religion on earth.

Islam is constantly debated by their own authorites, just as Toraic law is debated by Jewish tribunals. However, the debate is restricted to people very learned in it.

You've got to understand....Muslims have been indoctrinated from birth into a false system of believe that everyone except them is an infidel and worthy of death if they don't believe Mohammed.
So give the little brain washed baboons a break!

Some and I mean some, arrogantly beleive that their belief is above debate. Those same believe that anyone who does not join them should be killed. Fortunately, the majority of muslims are not this way and should not be held responsible for those that are.

I don't exactly get wut ur saying cuz of the huge words, so I'm gonna translate wut I think it is. Y do ppl who R Muslim not like it when they're asked offensive questions about their religion?
I can't speak 4 all of us, but we don't really not like it, it just gets irritating after a while. U can get kinda mad if ppl keep saying "Y do Muslims worship the moon?" and we keep having 2 explain 2 whynotaskdon or sum1 like him that Allah literally means 'the god', and Arabs B4 Islam in the area had a concept of Allah, but the original revelation got so twisted that the moon was god 2 them. sry if I misread ur question.

There's a huge difference between discussing the philosophical/theological merits of islam, and saying "all muslims are terrorists and want to kill infidels!"
One of those is a real discussion, the other one is senseless hatemongering.
I'm sure you know which is which.

Islam isn't exactly a support-able religion (if there is such a thing), even far less so than Christianity.
