what does it mean when I'm sitting at my computer and my cat comes up and starts rubbing her face on mine? I love it when it happens but I'm not sure why. I think it might be ffection or marking her presence. Which?

It is a combination of affection, and marking you with her scent glands which are in the sides of her face. They also can be jealous of the time you are spending with anything or anyone else. It works in a similar way with children, they usually don't want your attention until you are on the telephone or otherwise occupied.

Cats have scent glands in their face between their nose and eyes. You cat is marking you with her scent. It is a sign of affection. You might show affection back to her by squinting your eyes at her. Especially when she squints at you. That is also a cat sign of love.

Cats have scent glands in their whiskers and right by their ears, those slightly bald patches, and when they rub on you are other stuff they are marking their spots. So your answer is really Yes to both, they are marking you as theirs, so anyone esle will know that you belong to her!! :) Congrats your cat loves you! :)

Face to face contact is a cat "hug". A true show of affection. They do have scent glands in their face but marking or touching in this particular way, face to face, is loveeeeeeeee.

I just have to say "hear, hear" to RB_cubbed. That is right on, and the eye squinting think is true, although i'd describe it as a slow blink. It works. The more you learn, the more you know, cat's rule.

cats have scent glands that they rub to mark things as "there own". Your cat is telling everyone that you are hers. My cats do that to me, my husband, the edges of walls, our dog

It is a sign of affection. They like it if you rub your face on their face, too.
