I was for 40 years, then I wised up. I had a traumatic experience in my life at 40 and I learned the truth about being a Catholic and being a Christian. I am now happily unaffiliated and lean toward being agnostic. Being a Catholic and Christian has cost me the first half of my life. I died at age 40 and was born again into a happier and fuller life without Christ!

I really don't know how anyone could be proud to call themselves a Catholic, and I am not trying to be disrespectful at all I am just wondering how amidst all the allegations of sexual abuse and some still grieving the loss of John Paul the II that someone could be proud of the saying they were a Catholic.

I AM A CHRISTIAN
The word Catholic means universal and was used to describe the church as a whole. When Constantine took over in Rome he made what we now call Roman Catholisim the state religion and the Roman Catholic church was born. Unfortunately adopting many unbiblical practices in the process. He only did so because he wanted more power. The disciples of Jesus were growing in large numbers and like any politician, he made the official "religion" of the empire catholicism.
- They believe you go to Heaven by good works, false. You go to Heaven by faith in Jesus
- They ask Mary to pray for them. Mary was just a vessel for the miracle of Christ's birth to take place. She needed to believe on Him herself to be saved.
- Catholic priests and nun do not marry or ever have sex. This is wrong because God's first commandment was to be fruitful and multiply. (This is probably why they molest boys.)
- Catholics confess there sins to a priest. Why? He is human just like everyone else. Who does he confess his sins to, the Pope? God wants us to confess our sins to Him and only Him.
Catholics are also responsible for the following:
Mardi Gras
Halloween
- Catholics who are living do not consider themselves Saints of God. They insist that title is only given to those who deserve it, kind of like a popularity contest. The bible clearly indicates that the body of Christ are the saints of God, whether you are dead or alive.
The worst thing of all is that the majority of all Christians are Catholic. So don't wonder why there are so many atheists who come on here and mock Christianity. I am only doing as Jesus did to the Pharisees who thought what they were doing is right. I heard somewhere the pope actually kissed the Koran (Quran or however it's spelled). If you are Catholic, convert, unless you want to be a part of the creation of the antichrist

Um, not with a capital "C."
The term "catholic" insofar as it means "universal," refers to all Christians.
"Roman Catholic" is the group led by the pope, formerly known as the "Bishop of the Church in Rome."

No. They blaspheme God by claiming they can forgive sin. They cannot. They pray to Peter,Mary mother of Jesus, and other mortals. They still have Pagan practices. They are not the Holy institution they claim to be. There is very little that comes out of that church that is good.
