I opened up a child support case. The person working with me said that, if he doesn't pay, they really can't do anything about it. They can take him to court, tell him to get a job, and take his license away, but that's all. Not that having your license taken away is not a major thing. This woman said that this is really all that is done in Califorinia and that it is seldom that deadbeat parents are arrested (even though jail time is threatened). i don't understand. how can they get away with this?

This "man" has MANY children. All by different women. He is capable of having a job to take care of his 5 children, but he will not. in fact, he owes his two oldest (both 10 years old... a month apart) three years worth of support, each. He supports none of them. it's strange because he is trying me to close the case against him. i guess it's because he has other cases already open

this man has never done anything for my daughter and he wants 50% custody. i do work, and don't even want (or need) his money. in fact, i'd rather he just leave us alone. he had a chance to have a relationship with her, but chose not to. that's not my fault. he is a dangerous, abusive man. he should not even see my daughter...

Apparently you answered your own question. Yes you should be more carefull about who you have children with. And there are always two sides to every story ! I have two children by two mothers. Although I do everything in my power to take care of my children, My first child's mother keeps denying me the right to see my daughter and I can't afford to stay in court with her. She also keeps living with her mother(my X does) so that she won't have any bills. Yet she wants money from me and won't let me see my daughter because I left her for someone else. I will do absolutely anything for my children but I won't give a lazy b*tch my money so she can sit on her a*s. They will have to take me to jail and support me and give me 3 meals a day until they decide to release me. But she will not see a penny more of mine !
Some women like her abuse the system and use the fact that courts tend to favor in the mothers behalf while my child doesn't get to see her father. She doesn't care or realize how bad she is affecting her own child by being jealous about me being with a another person because I was unhappy with her. That does not affect my fathering capabilities or the fact that I am way more responsible and capable financially and educationally to raise our child than she ever will be. One day her own daughter will know the truth and despise her. That's pretty sad I know my daughter will have that type of relationship with her mother because her mother is ignorant.

Seriously, if you ever want to know the other side of things like how men who do take care of their children get screwed by the system and child support , let me know !
Trust me, you need to be happy you have your child and the courts not just automatically in his favor and he's not able to just walk all over your rights.

I'm not trying to be a jerk towards you, but that is a touchy subject for me.

Actually, it depends on the extenuating circumstances.

placing someone in jail and demanding child support enforcement will be the responsibility of the tax payers. taking his license away is not a big deal but it does limit his freedom and doesn't lend a constructive solution to his fiduciary responsibilities.

They can't get away with it. One could always choose to try and not have a monetary reward and the state may place a lean on his property for the amount that a court awards. The party to receive the monies, could try to sue the state for it but most are unsuccessful.

You can't force the man to work; and putting him in jail is certainly not going to help him to get a job. I've seen the other end of this where a co worker took home $1800 a month only to have $1100 taken for child support - how is a guy suppose to live on $700 in San Francisco?
