Since I had 50 some odd christians tell me today that the American soldiers aren't actually murdering the Iraqis, they are only 'killing' them and Jesus approves since these soldiers are just following the orders of the state that he tells them to obey, does this make him smile?

Just for the record, what I learned from christians today was:

1) It isn't murder if god tells you to take a life.
2) It isn't murder if the state tells you to take a life.
3) 'Killing' isn't the same as 'murder'. Taking a life for no good reason = bad. Taking a life for an ideal = justified.

I hope this taught you something about god's love.

He does

NOT

if they die unsaved. It saddens his heart that they will never know the joys of being with him or his Father and that they will spend eternity in Hell.

He

DOES

if they die saved but he rejoices because they will enter heaven when time is over.

OVERALL,

He is not happy that anyone is murdered.

BUT

Jesus also told us that there will be wars and rumors of wars so there will be persons dying from being in a war.

Of course Jesus does not smile when people die in war. There are people dying on both sides of this war. Fathers, mothers, sons and daughters all are dying husbands and wives. This war will not end anytime soon because the dying can be rationalized. The killing can be justified depending on who you ask. It is not just some Christians who are misled on the matter or dying in war, it's the Iraqis culture as well. We are murdering each other there is no way around that truth only the pitiful efforts to argue the political and righteous merit of it. I think an interesting reality television show would be taking a middle class American family and letting them live with an Iraqi family for three months. The World would be closer to peace if we could pray for an end to the war from both sides of the fence but that won't happen until the tainted doctrines of Godly entitlement are torn from hearts and perhaps this is his way of making us more honest, less arrogant. A fine piece of music democracy is but no one wants beat over the head with it beautiful or not. As for the soldiers they are least deserving of our judgments, they are doing what we sent them to do and they will stand or fall before God for how they did it. I do blame politicians who sit in air conditioned offices working up slogans like "stay the course" while cutting benefits, creating red tape, ignoring widows, ignoring orphans and letting the military abide with less then the best armor. If they can create a polarization between people of different religions and thoughts they've accomplished the goal. Divided we will never bring an end to this and our soldiers will not come home. I may be naive but I'd like to believe most of can agree that we'd like the troops to come home sooner then later, when the time is right. That would make Jesus smile. This war will not end until society brings pressure on Government to end it our society and that of the Middle East. Arguing over doctrines of belief do nothing if you are that outraged direct your energy constructively toward a means to an end. I get the impression you've got a certain answer already predetermined in your mind but thanks for letting me share my thoughts.

why would Christ smile about the death of Iraqis? God created ALL of us...and he loves ALL of us-
today you neither taught nor learned the first thing about God's love...the "50 odd Christians" you spoke to don't speak for God...and another lesson you failed to learn is that mankind can make up any excuse we find convenient for the evil we CHOOSE to commit, but an excuse is not the same thing as a cause or a reason...it's just an excuse...it sounds to me like your conversations today have been 'the blind leading the blind'

God and Jesus have nothing to do with the Iraqi war from the American perspective, that would be the Iraqi insurgents motivation.

i think you are so wrong in blaming god.. it is us humans that are doing the damage down here.. not god.. god give us all minds and it is not god that made the decision to go to war.. but it does say in the bible before the end time there would be rumors and rumors of war...and god is love.. he loves all of his creation... but he did not want the world to get like it is.. satan is lose in this world and in the minds of many.. i do not agree with killing at all.. or would i ever be able to take a human life.. i had that decision to make once and i sat down and let my husband pull the trigger if he wanted to..i could not because the first thing i thought of was thou shalt not kill and then i thought of my sons and i could not do it.. i once loved my husband but he was a very mean and abusive man...i do not know what Christians you are referring to but i love the lord and i would not condone even the judge giving someone the death penalty.. but it does say an eye for an eye.. but i think life in prison with no chance of parole is punishment.. i know all Christians do not think the same but i really think you are wrong in what you are saying...

Then you are getting answers from a lot of really lost souls who have some strange ideas about Christianity.

Not everyone out there feels that way you know. The ones who blurt things out like that are the same ones who always quote the bible because they are not intelligent enough to come up with their own thoughts and ideas. Doesn't make for thoughtful discussions.

I don't know who said it, but it was a brilliant thought, "Lord, protect me from your followers."

I can barely count the number of ways this is wrong. Who is getting killed is mostly Iranians not Iraqis. Your pathetic attempt at cinicism is noted. So then by virtue of your comments you think its OK for terrorists to kill Iraqis, soldiers and other civilians. This is the standard liberal view
