Depends on what kind of chewing style he has and whether or not he's the kind that'll eat anything. If he won't eat it and chews softly, you can try some non-edible, flexible Nylabones (called Gumabones). If he chews hard, I suggest Durable Nylabones. They are extremely hard, and is great for those tough chewers. Rawhides are also good for most chewing styles. Only get the pressed rawhides though if your dog has a tendency to break off large pieces, the traditional rawhide type can get blocked in their intestine and cause problems. The pressed rawhides are easier to digest. If he likes to eat them, get a Booda Velvet bone. Those tend to leave "crumbs" on the floor though, but they come in several flavors. Also give dental bones regularly to help with their dental health. These come in many different styles and brands.
Never give real bones, unless they are EXTREMELY (I stress this a lot) hard. Those can hurt their intestines very badly, especially chicken bones. Chicken bones are very easy to splinter and become lodged inside.

Raw soup bones from your local grocer, give them to the dog raw.
Nyla-bones are a nice fake bone that last a very long time, too.

I give my dog the liver flavor nylabone & he loves it. I stay away from the rawhide, because they can't digest it & it sticks like glue to the intestines & can make them extremely sick & in some cases can even cause death.
