I wonder, how can we answer questions with really little knowledge except for our own experience and maybe education without taking full responsibility for the outcome of our answers. There are people out there who want to lose 60 pounds and are 125 pounds, others who are contemplating a kind of rape or people who are just very lost. How do we answer to them when they choose an answer that may cost them their future or their lives?

Personally I don't answer those kind of questions. I am fully aware of my responsibilty to myself and the asker.

Your question is very good and well written. We all need to be aware of the consequences of our answers.

I think everyone needs to take responsibility for the content of their answer and try to give the best well informed answer they can. Sounds like a perfect world right? It would be nice if that could happen. I cringe every time i read an answer that i know is just plain not true. I think the questioner needs to be responsible for themselves as well and realize if they need help from qualified professional that is who they need to call. I realize that this site is an exchange of life experience mixed with people who may be a professional in a specific area.

Regardless to what answers people may give in this forum, one must use common sense in following them. Some questions are just not suitable for this stage. They need professional advice. The very idea that they use this forum in these situations suggest that they need more help than just what they are asking.
In my opinion, this is a good forum to share ideas and differences of opinions. Of course there are the jokers (and there is nothing wrong with poking a little fun), and the cruel and ignorant. But just as in life..."enter at your own risk".

I choose to think of his as somewhat of a "game" my dear.. It is right and very 'kind' indeed of you to pen the above... (and it is very true.. what you write.) I do think it's done as a lark, on the 'spur of the moment' writing.. answering. I am sure a lot of these folk have been to professionals for some of these problems.. SO please try and clear your conscience in here.. (You are so compassionate sounding, you'd be wonderful in a job working w/some of these more unfortunate sounding folk.. an Rn for example.) I am hopeful that no one will seriously take their life (who knows tho, right? one never does know ...) or 'lose their future..' (cost them their future is how you put it.) We all take gambles in life too, by the way.

ive never seen any question about rape on here or wanting to lose 60 pounds when they're only 125. you answer to them to give them advice on how to shape they're future. i don't think anyone asking the questions takes all the answers literally.

This may be the only forum they come to for an answer, so many of us here feel a responsibility to give the most accurate and helpful answer we can. And at least part of the time, the answers help tremendously.

hey hun....i hear you....some of the answers i have seen on here make me wonna smack some of the people...the only questions i answer are the ones that i do know about like health...people wonna know how they can loose weight fast and with little or know exercise....other people on here tell them to not eat or shut there pie hole like that person is wasting their time askin' the question....all they have to do is find a different question to answer instead of being so negative dont you think?...i tell them the truth to the best of my experience (not only what i read but what i have tried personally) you cant pull the weight off fast and be healthy....its a commitment like anythang else.... like you i wish more people cared about what they said on here....this is a place that people go to for help not criticism....and if people are gonna get on here and answer questions then they need to thank long and hard about what their telling people.....helping some one with a heart felt answer is worth a lot more then a couple of points...im glad im not the only one to think on this...love daisy

Pick and choose who you answer and if necessary just give a simple answer as to not upset the questioner.

To those who sound desparate, I suggest that they seek counseling. One question about a healthy way to fast, I answered that there is no healthy way to fast. Some of us try to be responsible.
