My friend is a naturalist and won't eat any meat that's not free range animal. Can he have hot dogs?...

Farmer John uses the brisket from pigs to make the hot dogs.

If you hold your arm straight up over your head, the brisket would be below the armpit and next to the chest. It's behind ham on a pig.

When buying hot dogs, you always want to look for "No Fillers" and "No Byproducts." If the label says anything about mechanical, or MPM or mechanically pulled meat don't buy it (you don't want to know why).

I don't know if pigs can be considered "free range."

Nope, not unless it says that on the package. Most hot dogs are made out of left overs of the cow unless it says 'all beef' or some other kind of meat on the package. But I have never seen any hot dogs that say range free on them, just eggs. Try kosher sites on the web, they might have something for him. Good luck!!

I don't think so. He would have to look in a specialty meat shop to find free range hot dogs.

Hot Dogs used to be whatever the butcher had leftover back in the days. Now they are what ever the factories have left over after they cut and pack the "good" or nicer cuts of meat.

Pig anuses and cow nostrils. Then they mix in de-breaded, chicken McNuggets retrieved from the parking lot dumpsters.

Rat tails too sometimes. A little extra something from the dumpster excersions.
