Have you become so calloused by your experiences with people that you are unable to see life without being cynical? If someone told you that God loves you, does this conjur up a preprogrammed response due to inconsistencies from those that profess a faith in Jesus and in so doing block any real potential for an understanding of who Jesus really was and is.
I've seen too many people lose the potential for receptivity due to too many angry self-proclaimed believers shouting their beliefs rather than sharing their faith and the impact that God's love has had in their lives.

Well, if you really think the only way to be spiritual is through a prefabricated faith, I'm afraid YOU are deaf... You're deaf to music, and to romantic words and actions from the person who loves you. And you're also deaf and blind to good arts, and to a nice chat with a friend, just to mention some of my main sources of spirituality.

Yes, religions have made me cynical. But that's because I've known them for too long. And it's not because of the inconsistencies of some bad representatives of the church. It's rather because of the church itself as such, though I won't deny that those sanctimonious jerks you're talking about do not help your cause either. Yet, I insist, don't be so harsh on them. It's not THEIR fault if their cause is impossible to defend to anyone who isn't willing to accept something out of sheer faith. As a matter of fact, you should be really proud of all you've done with such a poor plot. It was a good move scaring people with hell. I mean of course what do people fear more than the unknown? And what do we know least about if it's not our own death?

As I was saying, your efforts are very valuable. Most movies wouldn't have made it to the first thirty minutes of film. And you've been filming for the last two thousand years. That's a hell of a super production!

I have dedicated a good part of my life to studying religion. (I am a minister in one faith as a result of my study.) Additionally, I grew up in a Christian family and did the usual Sunday School and church services of the true believers.

I am, however, secular. It isn't because I'm deaf to the teachings of the Christ; it is because I haven't chosen to accept him as the son of God. I don't believe there is a deity.

To me, Jesus is an incredible man who has brought peace and joy and hope to an enormous number of people. I am joyous for their faith, but do not need faith myself. My thoughts weren't created by the angry shouting or the threats of hell, but because of an exploration I did on my own. I do agree with you that many people are far too loud and invasive in their proselytizing and that this turns a lot of people from Christianity.

It didn't happen in my case, but I can see how it would. People such as that frustrate and tire me but I can listen and admire those who witness by telling me how their life is enhanced by their faith.

This is my concern.

Is not God the same God for Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Jehovah's Witnesses, Baptist, Catholics, Protestants, Lutherans. Seventh-Day Adventists and Episcopalians?

If so, then whay am I treated like dirt by Mormons (for example)because I do not share their faith (having my own)?

I am not spiritually deaf, as I hear the word of Jesus, but I am spiritually numb to the protestations of other faiths, denouncing mine as not the True Faith (whatever that means).

This is an inane question. First off, asking someone spiritually deaf IF they're spiritually deaf (since they would HAVE NO IDEA IN THE FIRST PLACE being blind to it) is just silly.

That's like asking a blind person what color clothes their wearing. How would they know?

Its not that I don't LOVE your question, because I'D really love to SLAP AROUND THE SPIRITUALLY DEAF to an insane degree, since they usually start all the crap arguments. However, they also don't understand they are the ones who have a problem.

Catch-22. ::sigh::

Nobody's pefect.
Some try too hard to prove Christ.
Others try too hard to disprove Him.

If you see a child in the middle of the street and a semi is coming, you SHOUT!

Why? Because it's urgent.

Time is coming to an end and some people try even harder to "witness" to lost souls even as the world does
its best to blind them.

I've learned that the areas we recognize improvement in others are the same areas that we ourselves either should teach having mastered it or are in need of being taught. The real question is which category are you and what will you do about?

Most people cannot hear because they are not quiet long enough to do so. They think they can tell Him something He does not know.

If we are still and quiet we can hear the still small voice of Truth.

I don't think so. I am open to opinions, I try to determin if what they say is accurate or not. I also try to listen to the Holy Spirit and my convictions, if thats what you mean.

everyone's a hyprocrite (even church-going folk). in a perfect world far greater than this one, i believe we'd be more spiritually inclined, there's just too much temptation in our lifetimes.
