Part of the statement is correct. People in Heaven live forever. The Bible says that the people in Hell are destroyed.

what does God say? "the wages of sin is death" not eternal life in the fire.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
What is the definition of perish
1)to become destroyed or ruined : cease to exist
Who gets eternal life? the people who believe in Jesus
God said you will die the Devil said you won't REALLY die the problem is the children of God believe the Devil over God
Think about it Revelation says God rains fire and brimstone on the wicked. Jesus says the meek inherit the earth, God is going to make a new Heaven and a new Earth so if hell fire goes on forever and ever then doesn't that make God a liar?
"Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it." Isaiah 47:14
Rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.Matthew 10:28
If God wants to destroy sin then wouldn't eternal life in the fire make sin ... eternal
people say the fire is eternal so sinners burn forever but
In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. Jude 7
is Sodom and Gomorrah still burning? No but but the EFFECTS of the fire are eternal
But the wicked will perish: The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish—vanish like smoke. Psalm 37:20
As smoke is blown away by the wind, may you blow them away; as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God.
Psalms 68:2
"Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire," says the LORD Almighty. "Not a root or a branch will be left to them. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample down the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I do these things," says the LORD Almighty.
Malachi 4:1-3
The eternal torment of humans does not please God. he hates to see pain and sufferingeven when it is the suffering of the wicked.
"Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live; turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?" (Ezekiel 23:11)
"Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord God: and not that he should return from his way and live? For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore, turn yourselves, and live ye."--Ezek. 18:23, 32

Well, first once a person is dead they are no longer alive in any form, see Ecclesiastes 9:5
(For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten.)
but the bible also promises that the righteous ones will live forever on the earth see Psalms 37:29.
(The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.)
And it promises that the dead will be returned to life on earth, resurrected, and all humans then will live forever in perfection. see Revelation 21:3, 4
(With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and He will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God Himself will be with them. And He will wipe out every tear form their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.")
oh, and hell is the English equivalent of the Greek word used to describe the state of being dead, the common grave of mankind, nothing more.
The answers are all in the bible.

You've asked a good question and so far, I don't think you've gotten a good answer. There are a lot of ways someone can answer it according to their opinion and their beliefs. I could do the same but I will tell you what is real. I'll tell you what the Bible says about it.
In Romans 3:23- "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"
In this verse we see that everyone has committed a sin in his or her lifetime. I don't think anyone would debate that. If you've ever told a little white lie or stolen something. even something little it makes you a sinner. The most perfect person in the world cannot measure up to God's standards
In Romans 6:23- "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord"
Because we have all sinned, we deserve the punishment for sin, which is death. the death that is talking about is the second death meaning eternity in Hell. We cannot escape the punishment of Hell unless we accept the gift of God.
What is this gift? Almost 2000 years ago, God sent his son Jesus Christ to the earth. He was the only perfect man to ever live. He lived a totally sinless life and then he took our punishment. He died on the cross to give us salvation and rose again to prove that he was God.
Romans 5:8- "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
So yes, it is true what you said that you will spend eternity in one of two places. either heaven or hell and the choice is up to you.
Romans 10:9- "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and Believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
All you have to do is accept that gift of eternal life that God offers us by praying. Admit that you are a sinner, believe that Jesus is God and rose from the dead, and ask Jesus to forgive you.
That's all it takes

Hell was created, therefore it was not something that was eternal.
Those who go to hell will not live for eternity. One day they'll just "fizz out" Forever doesn't mean eternally.
It means a space of time.
Those who go to heaven will be given the gift of eternal life. They will never die.
God knows how long each person that deserves to go to hell will spend in hell

There is no hell. People who have a direct experience of God realize that life is not defined by this petty body and personality. They realize that they always were and always will be. They realize there is no separation between themselves, others, and God. And they realize that all are in heaven and will forever be in heaven; the difference is that people don't realize it until the enlightenment experience shows them directly.

Only if that is part of your chosen belief system. I do not believe in heaven or hell so no I will not live forever. I will live out my lifetime then cease to be.

Sort of. In heaven you will live for ever. But I believe the bible says that hell is like an eternal death. You exist, but I wouldn't really call it living.

You will live forever in Heaven, but I think that the Bible says: Romans 6:23--For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ Our Lord.--Also- Ezek 18:20 says: The soul that sins...shall die.--
God Bless!!

Perhaps. For heaven, eternal life is the reward; for hell, eternal damnation. Yet the Bible also speaks about burning the chaff from the wheat... could that imply that those in hell will one day be destroyed? I'm sure theologians debate such questions.

NO only your soul will. Jesus has the keys to hell right now awaiting the day of judgement to let all souls out so they can return to the presence of the Creator from which everything was created both good and evil.
