'Pathological Liar' is the term you're looking for. But it's a fairly harsh indictment.

For mvprams: A compulsive liar has a 'compulsion' to lie but can control it. A pathological liar does not believe thier lies (usually) but cannot help but do it - even when they know it to be detremental to themselves. A compulsive liar knows where to draw the line when thier lies are getting them into trouble - a pathological liar does not . Not an idiot - a psychologist. And your qualifications are?

Insecure! Most people lie to impress others. After a while , no one believes anything they say , even when it is true. They lie because they feel they have to be better , more interesting, anything but what they really are. Tell them to be themselves and to dwell on the others in their lives. Listen and be interested in others makes them, like you , without putting on a false face.
