The actual town is quite small compared to London. There is plenty of countryside around the out skirts. You haven't said how old you are if you are young there are plenty of bars and nightclubs. Huddersfield covers a large area some good and some bad just like any were else. You will find them a friendly bunch!

Like all cities it is never the place that you live but the people you associate with. You will find Huddersfield more tranquil than London, that does not mean it is better or worse, just different.

You will find the people, especially passes by friendlier. It is more common to say hello, which is nice. You will have to be on a mission when you arrive, to make new friends. Plan how you are going to do that, and then do it!

I have moved many times so have a trail of friends all over the globe, moving is something you get used to. A new experience, enjoy it, it will not be your last move that is for certain.

It's a big town with a long history, though surely not so populous as London. (Don't mind me! I'm a Tex-Okie who never has been to England, but Wikipedia said it's a big town in Yorkshire, at the confluence of the Colne and Holme rivers.) Believe me, I know how it feels as a young person to be uprooted from friends in a familiar community. But, if you despair at the move, remember the words of the Apostle Paul, who, wrote, "I have learned in whatever state I find myself, therewith to be content." Sounds like he never was in Kansas in his life. But I'll bet that if he had pitched his tent down by the river in Huddersfield he'd have been right at Holme.
