I probably don't believe in the freewill you believe in. I believe that we cannot choose God or Christ on our own. I believe the freedom we have before Christ is freedom only to do evil. It will only be a person is drawn by God that they can Repent and turn from their sins to Jesus Christ. Freedom after Christ is now freedom to love God, that freedom is not there before Christ softens the heart.

I think it's more accurate to say He knew ahead of time that we would respond to the Holy Spirit calling us. I think these scriptures illustrate this concept very well:
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.
Rev. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not a Calvinist: I don't believe God is some sort of cosmic meanie who created some humans solely so they can be destroyed. I think it has everything to do with the exercise of our free will to either accept or reject His overtures toward us.
Peace and love in Jesus.

I believe that if one adopts the idea of predestination, one must agree that any action, good or evil, would be part of that plan. God told us we were in his hands, and yet we still worry every day whether we are doing the "right" thing... I love God and God loves me and that's all I need to know.

Yes He did.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:3-14
