I am 38 and my daughter is expecting a baby in January. I want a different name to be called other than grandmother or grandma. My kids called my mother "mommom" but I don't want that either. So far the only suggestion is "nana".

My kids are half american half mexican and my mom wanted exactly what you do...something young different and not old sounding! Mawmaw is out! Anyhow...we are teaching my lil boy to call her abuela which is grandmother in spanish. Its pronunciation is ab way la. You can also say (way-la) for short! She loves it! Hope this helps hope ya like it!

Try other languages to get inspired. In France, the name for Grandma is Mamie (pronounced Mammy) or there's also Omi and Umi, but I can't remember what languages they're from.

What about Gaia(guy-uh)? It means Earth or Mother earth. I am considering using this when I ever become a grandma.
Congrats on the new station in life!!!!
