To be honest, it's not that bad. Take a deep breath. It's wierd at first and the first two years you feel like the low man on the totem pole. Then there will be times where you'll feel it's horrible, embarrassing, whatever. It goes by way too fast, enjoy it.
BTW, Band was a great experience for me in High School. You have friends who share your hobby and meet upperclassmen. I used band to pay for college and I got to attend the games free and be a part of an amazing organization. It becomes your family, and you won't regret it!
Listen, I was a nerd in school - and now I'm glad I was. I didn't try to be anyone else and I had great friends. Be yourself and do what your heart suggests.

Don't worry about it. Those band folks are always a very close-knit group. Don't ever do something because of what others might think. Do what's best for you. Also, those kids in honors and AP classes tend to be a close-knit group as well. It's really best to stay with what you're good at - If you do something just to be popular and aren't very good at it - is it really worth it? I teach Freshmen. Believe me - every kid (even the most popular) doubt themselves sometimes. Stay confident in who you are - people will love you for you - not someone you're trying to be...
P.S. What's a football game without the band?!

High school is not that bad. The band kids are cool, too.
Just remember to always be confident in yourself and you'll be surprised at how popular you are. Other people see self-confidence and it makes them want to be around you.
Try out everything you can and make friends in all groups.
Having friends in every clique in the school, and not just the jocks, or the band, or the intellectuals, is the true mark of popularity.
Stay in band. People will have more respect and like you better for doing what you love and excel at than trying to be something, or someone, you're not.
Good luck, and best wishes!

No, high school is not THAT bad...we all (most) go through it...it's just a part of life. sounds like you're pretty well off. I was considered a "nerd" and a "loner" at times, but i got along with pretty much everyone at my school. Get some good friends who aren't judgemental and will always be your friend and who cares what the rest think, because the rest don't matter. When you graduate high school it will have been worth it.
The valedictorian (sp?) at my school was a band member...he was cool...smart..."nerdy" if you will but wasn't a "nerd" like wearing pocket protectors and stuff. Don't let what people think stop you from doing what you want! You will regret it.

high school is what you make of it. I had a really hard time at first... i was miserable becuase i refused to look for the good.
you won't be stereotyped. there will be 100 other kids in band... and people will think about you more by how you act than what clubs you are in.
best eadvice: self confidance, or at least the appearance of it, makes you attractive and makes others see you well.
people will HATE You if you try to be "popular." honestly, they will despise you. do what you love and people will see a comfortable person.

High school rocks hun. We all go into it nervous, if not terrified. Doing a lot is good because your networking more, and are around a lot of people. And being smart, isn't a downside. As long as you don't walk around with an "I know everything because I'm smarter than you" attitude, and are just laid back, you should be okay. If your really worried about it, you should take one...blah class. It really broke the ice for me, I took a Strategy for Success class...which you don't have, but it's just a blow off class that a lot of the school clowns go to to earn easy credits. They always cheated off my work...but they were funny and really helped with the whole networking scene. Good luck hun, RELAX!

High school is only four years out of your life, and it is a lot of people that may not be nice and think that high school may be the best years of your life. Be true to yourself and make friends with people who increase your self worth, self esteem and add to your development. Don't worry about everyone else. And just remember, do as well as you can and invest in yourself. Think about what you want to do after highschool because that will shape your life. If you are thinking college, military, straight into the workforce. . .whatever it is prepare yourself so you can be the best at it. Good luck to you!

know everything but don't act like you know everything. Study the layout, and don't piss people off. never hit an upperclassmen. You're damn lucky to be in AP classes. I didn't have that opportunity, and from what i've heard. It will suck. Don't b**** to upperclassmen. but you can complain to fellow freshman. They will hate you for being smart. Good luck.
sometimes in highschool you want to shoot yourself. It's a mix of the worst and best people you may ever meet, culmonated together. Everyone will have an opinion. I think highschool sux
