alwayslaughing, that is lame. It's not a fear of god, or any eternal punishment or reward that keeps me from harming others. It's compassion, and consideration for others.

No because if government chose to authorize a religion then it would be at the expense of every other. It should be a choice left up to the individual. Whether to believe, or not, or what to believe in. If government controlled and required religion then that religion could not be based on faith. In a way China is doing this with the Catholic Church over there. They are trying to control it. Religion and government must remain apart and not controlled by the other.

Ohhhh...I am longing for a Theocracy that regulates every last aspect of my life...but only if Jesus Himself is in charge of it!! No human being is capable of ruling a Theocracy, nor should any try.
Just think! Jesus in charge! What a day of rejoicing that will be!!

Till then, while I think it's a shame that these symbols of our country's faith annoy people so much, I'm not gonna get all in a lather about it. It's a shame, but they're only symbols after all. Too bad some people are so threatened by them. There is a huge statue of a Roman god in the center of Birmingham Alabama...not one single Christian has made a peep about it being there, nor do I hear any noise from the ACLU. He doesn't bother me, I think he's very beautiful. Doesn't mean I have to worship him.

The whole thing has gotten beyond childish.

Thank you!

Thank you for allowing me to read an answer to your question, that says "Just think! Jesus in charge! What a day of rejoicing that will be!!"

Christianity has come to the point now that they want a guy ruling the country, who couldn't even control 12 apostles.

A well, they did choose a guy now who can't even control his own mouth, so it would be an improvement.

No, But if you don't want any religion or spirituality involved in or influencing government. Then your going to have to get rid of most of our laws that are on the books. Because our Judaical system was and is founded/inspired by Christian/Judaic beliefs and principles.

It would be that way with a Muslim theocracy. Try living in Saudi Arabia to see what it is like.

If you want to establish an official religion, then you had better make sure it's YOUR religion -- because whichever one becomes official, will immediately outlaw all the others.

They also want to teach creationism in science class. To me that is scary. Learning creationism instead of real facts in school.

Most of us already have one, in the sense that we only worship at the altar of our own selfish urges.
