A man from Swahili asked my husband, "Do you know Swahili?" My husband said he didn't. The man insisted, "Yes you do. You know 'safari'? You know 'mumbo jumbo'?" My husband admitted he was familiar with these words, and was told, "'Safari' is Swahili. 'Mumbo Jumbo' is Swahili. You know Swahili!"
We found this very reassuring.

It's called Swahili, or Kiswahili, not Swahilian. I don't, sorry.
