If this brown leather furniture is a dark brown with a shiny finish to it, I would agree with a previous user to use a really deep, rich red. However, do not use high gloss paint if the furniture is 'shiny' leather. If the leather is a more suede finish dark brown, then use the deep red in a more glossy finish. This will make the room feel 'cozier' as reds are generally translated as familial, close colors. They make one feel relaxed and comforted if they are rich and deep (Of course, a true red does the opposite- it speaks of energy and vibrance).

However, if this furniture is a lighter brown, more of a tan, then the user who suggested the green/sage wall color would be the wiser choice. The same rules apply to the finish. You would not want to have glossy walls and shiny leather furniture. This will have a more airy and open effect than the first choices, and will feel a bit larger.

Trim in both situations would most likely work best as a brown that matches said furniture, the contrast it would provide in the green scenario would be a posititve. It would, however, not provide as much contrast in the deep red situation, also a positive.

The options would both look great a hardwood flooor, or a neutral color of carpeting (just add a rug that jumps out at you and has the same colors as the room). If you have a 'louder' floor finish that we should know about, you may want to edit your description.

Hope that helps you out a bit!

You didn't say what color your carpet or flooring is....but going to assume it's neutral, like most carpet nowadays. If so....color is what you may want to do, so I'd suggest a soft sage green making the trim work a cream color, not too far from the carpet shade. From there, you can incorporate a patterned rug with browns, beige's, sage and darker greens and a touch of red/burgundy or two. Take a couple of the colors from the carpet and accent around the room, and in the window treatments. You don't need a room full of neutrals, but a bit more color. And if you don't like the green hues....try a soft dutch pastel blue. Blues, tans and browns go really well together, and again, use a patterned rug to bring it all together.

But most of all, have fun! Find the rug first, and go from there....once you see one that catches your eye...things, including your imagination....will take off and you'll wonder why you didn't start earlier! :)

Tuscan Yellow. Like a buttery gold.
I just did my rec room and did a faux finish using joint compund and a trowel in a semi-circle motion, then used a primer over the whole thing so it accepts the color evenly, then used Benjamin Moore Concord Ivory and Stewart Gold. THe Ivory went on first then I sponged the gold. What a LOOK! I then found a micro fiber dark brown sofa and chair, the finish of the micro-fiber looks like old leather, but the brown and golds look absolutly incredible!
Good luck!

A rich bright rust color on 3 walls and a bright harvest gold on one wall.

If you want a dramatic look, paint the floor and/or ceiling molding, dark brown, black or off white(egg shell).

If you lean towards cool colors, a medium bright lime green on 3 walls and one painted a darker but bright grass green.
For these colors, you might want to trim any moldings at the top and bottom with white or off white for a dramatic effect.

Oh, I like a color called Pumpkin Seed. It's a nice warm color, like yellow and beige mixed together. But the sage greens are nice, too, a little cooler, though.

Why not go for a soft red, blended with a ragging technique so that it looks texturized? Not a bright red, but more of a pinkish red. You could even use a brown, a red, and a pink in similar tone.
