I have an addiction to drinking coca-cola. I only like regular coke and no other soda. I've tried drinking diet colas but I can't take the after taste. I really want to stop my addiction with coca cola because it causes me to gain weight and not to mention it is bad for your teeth. Has anyone else out there had a problem like this? If so what did you do. Also, does anyone recommend a diet cola that does not have a strong after taste?

Start drinking water when you are thirsty instead of Coke. All the sugar in cola actually dehydrates you which will make you thirsty and want more cola so it is a vicious cycle. Maybe just try to cut down and have a can a day. And make it an effort to buy that one can instead of having a huge supply at home. Think of it as a reward. Chew gum instead so you have something to do with your mouth. You already know it is bad for you and diet colas aren't really that much better. I'm sure you are a strong enough person to get through this.

I had that same addiction....but now I can't stand the taste of real Coke! I also needed to lose weight, and knew what I drank, with all that sugar, was the problem so....devised a way to drink a lot less, and now don't drink any real Coke at all!

A friend turned me onto those bottled carbonated waters WalMart carries....called America's Choice. They are carbonated, so I didn't miss the bubbles, and come in flavors like Kiwi-Strawberry, Key Lime, Mango Peach, Golden Peach, White Grape, etc. My favorites are Black Cherry and Mango Peach and Key Lime. When they're cold, they're delicious, but have NO sugar in them. Those got my taste buds adjusted to the sweeteners instead of sugar, and from there, it was easy to switch to diet Coke and other diet drinks. If you want a diet drink that's soda, but doesn't leave an aftertaste, try Diet Sprite or Diet 7-Up. Either are really good. And good luck! :)

Try the new CokeZero, it has no calories but tastes better than regular DietCoke does. But to make the switch start mixing some diet soda with your coca-cola, slowly make it more and more diet and less and less cocoa-cola until you are able to drink diet. Good Luck!

My gosh-I had the same problem for years and hated how it discolored my teeth and the weight gain was terrible and I was even losing sleep at night. I started with brushing my teeth after I finished a coke and then before I had one and that made the coke taste like crap-then I started drinking water-I still don't like it but got used to it and also alternated with diet dr. pepper which had less of after taste to me. In less than a year I lost 68 lbs. and I now have better and stronger teeth. It was one of the hardest things I ever did but I like the results and have never gone back to coke-not even occasionally. That was atleast 8 yrs. ago. Good luck!

I do half diet and half reg, but I had to work up to it. Diet pepsi decaf doesn't have a really bad after-taste, so I mix that with reg coke. It really has helped me and I've lost about 20 lbs. I love cola - I'm a freak about it and couldn't give it up, so I started adding just a little of that diet pepsi decaf in my coke till I eventually worked up to "half and half"... No it's not a perfect solution (perfect for me is straight cola - lol), but it definitely gets me by. Good luck! :)

Coca Cola ZERO.

It has no after taste and no calories because it is made with Splenda instead of the stuff Equal is made of.

It costs a little more but it's worth it.

To keep it from staing your teeth, do what I do.

Drink it through a straw. Make sure the straw is BEHIND your teeth.

Diet Coke. Drink it in moderation. Limit yourself to 1, yes 1, soda a week.

i have the same problem with sprite. i hate the diet stuff cuz its just not the original. try chewing gum instead of drinking. but if u have to have a soda, drink club soda instead. that always curbs my cravings for the soda

I used to have a soda problem until I limited myself to just 2 cans (or less) a day. It was self disipline, but it worked.
