I can manage proselytizing with no problem. What worries me is the political activism that is trying to pass such laws as Marriage Protection Act, the Flag Burning Amendment, the requirement to teach creationism in public schools, the efforts to install prayer in public schools, the apologies from churches for torture and war, and the intrusion of the state on private procreation decisions. If there were as loud an opposition from progressive Christians against all these attempts to restrict rights and impose religious rule over the country, I'd happily keep my fat mouth shut. However, when the church steps in to tell me that I'm going to jail for living my life the way I want and that children are going to be forced to hear religion in science class, you bet I'm going to be vocal in protesting it.

Because that's not true. No single atheist has live for the past 2000 years to endure that much proselytizing. Therefore, no single atheist has grounds to vocalize for such a reason.

I submit that atheists are so vocal because if you shout something loud enough and long enough, some people will eventually believe you. Roughly the same reason Christians are so vocal. Except we have different motives.

..and here I thought the atheist vocality has been there for more than 2000 thousand years as well. Still can't put a good man (JC)down!

I do not vocalize my opinion because of 2000 years of christian proselytizing.

I vocalize my opinion because christianity (and all organized religion) are a threat to freedom and human progress.

You're entitled to your opinion of what the reason(s) are, but speaking for myself, if there is vocalization from me, it is in response to something generated by a mean-spirited person claiming to be a bible-thumper. Or if I add something in reference to atheism, it's because something has come to my attention that I'd like to try to explain. However, I'm sorry if at times it's not helpful for the situation! lol

I guess cuz I don't know any 2000 year old Atheists.
That could just be because, ignorant Christian that I am, I haven't examined all the evidence.
How old are you, by the way?

Dear BN,

The vocality of athiests is due to their fear that something the Christian's say might be right, to their desire to out-shout their own innate desire to seek God, and to their fear that something other than their own desires might have a claim on them.
