"Semitic" is NOT an ethniticity. It is a linguistic term referring to a family of languages which includes Arabic, Amharic, Hebrew, and Tigrinya. The late 19th century term "anti-Semitism" came to be used - completely inaccurately - in reference specifically to anti-Jewish sentiment.
