First of all, I am a mormon. I do believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet. I don't want to sound preachy or anything like that, but all the things you said are totally wrong.Members of our church, known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, live all over the world. The religion was lost for quite some time, and Joseph Smith just didn't feel right about any of the other ones on the earth. So he went to a grove af trees and prayed, and God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ appeared to him and told him that no church on the earth was the true church. Sooner or later, he found the golden plates on which history was written about the goings about of the church up to many years before Christ came. He translated them and they became the book of mormon. He also did many other things and was persecuted much before he got killed.
The reason why lots of the Latter-Day Saints live in Utah is because this is where our way of life really flourished. Our ancestors trekked over to utah from many places to avoid being persecuted and such.
Our standards are different than others, though. We believe in being honest, not being immodest(such as not showing too much with short or skimpy shirts) kind, we don't drink or smoke, charitable, and treating all men equal just to hit a few high points. We also believe in the plan of salvation, we believe that we were put on this earth to be tested, and if we follow our standards and don't sin and not repent, then we will go to the judgement day at the end of the mellenium, we will be able to go to the highest degrees of glory and someday become gods and create our own worlds. I bet that if you met a mormon, the only thing you would notice that would be different about them would be that they refuse to drink or see an r-rated movie, and they would be modest.

There were 12 other people that saw the gold plates. Get a Book of Mormon and read the names at the beginning. All 12 of these people later had arguments with Joseph Smith but none of them ever denied seeing the gold plates even when asked directly about them. They said they were afraid of the punishment that God would give them if they denied whatthey had seen. They were not afraid of Joseph Smith. They were afraid of God.

They didn't move away willingly. So-called Christians had put a death sentence on them. Mormons were beaten, raped, and murdered. Much like the early Christians had to escape Nero to survive, the Mormons had to escape the Christians.

The Mormon religion makes alot more sense than Protestant Christianity. Protestant rebelled from the Catholics but seem lost in a doctrine that they can't understand. All they have left is the Bible that the Catholics gave them.

It is either the Atheists, the Catholics, or the Mormons. Not any other good choices. The rest are clearly wrong.

What? I live in California and interact with people of all religions everyday so that doesn't even make sense. The LDS church is the 4th largest church, so you probably know a whole bunch of them and just didn't know. Maybe you are talking about the cults that live in the outskirts of Utah and practice polygamy. As far as only Joseph Smith being the only one to see the tablets, that's not true. There were others. And as far as Mormons being weird, what do you think non-Christians think of all us Christians. They think we're weird for believing that a man was crucified and then came back from the dead. If you dont agree with some of the things Mormons believe in, then dont be one.

Mormons believe the same thing as all other christian religions. The only difference is that Mormons believe in continued revelation from a prophet. The bible is our main text and the book of Mormon is just another testament of how to live. Everyone has the right to practice the religion they want. Who are you to judge. If you believe in God at all then you should not be so quick to judge.

Mormons don't have a nook on the marketplace of "weird and wonderful". Is she a sturdy female that would not do drugs and tries to be a sturdy man or woman? If she is a minimum of that, then enable her be weird and wonderful. Be grateful that she's no longer deviant.

That's just a tip of the iceberg. They have done alot of strange things over the years. Even people disappearing and never to be found again like a mob took someone out or something. They are a cult and most people who get involved in these groups end up in a trance-like state or in a state of reprogramming of their behaviors. Take Disciples for the L.A. Church of Christ for an example or Scientology.

You are completely misinformed, and are using your ignorance to stir up contention.

For one thing, there were a number of witnesses that held and saw the plates, and their testimonies of it can be found on the first few pages of the Book of Mormon.

And they moved to the middle of Utah because they were being persecuted and killed in the East. In fact, there was a law in Missouri that stated that it was legal to kill anyone claiming to belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Please check your sources.

i use to be mormon, u need to get ur facts straight, thats the one thing that kills me about people who judge other religions, and people, they dont know what the hell there talking about. but u are right, they are weird, they see the world thorough rose color glasses, and live in the own little worlds. mainly to keep there values, and to raise there children with the believes they believe to be true. for protection. to be in the world, not of the world. mormons have a lot of good to give, and they teach a lot of good things. it all was not for me. but please learn ur facts, because what u just said is not all that true, there is lots more to it than what u so simply said.

They have always been werid and I will never understand them, so I choose to forget about them. I am happy being a Catholic and I am not about to change my religion for anything else.
