"The books of the Word are all those which have the internal sense; but those books which have not the internal sense, are not the Word. The books of the Word, in the Old Testament, are the five Books of Moses, the Book of Joshua, the Book of Judges, the two Books of Samuel, the two Books of Kings, the Psalms of David, the Prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi: and in the New Testament, the four Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John; and the Apocalypse. The rest have not the internal sense" (Arcana Coelestia n. 10325 or Heavenly Doctrine n. 266).

FAQ: Why different testaments and books in the Word?

"As regards the Word particularly, it has existed in every age, though not the Word we possess at the present day. Another Word existed in the Most Ancient Church before the Flood, and yet another Word in the Ancient Church after the Flood. Then came the Word written through Moses and the Prophets in the Jewish Church, and finally the Word written through the Evangelists in the new Church. The reason why the Word has existed in every age is that by means of the Word there is a communication between heaven and earth, and also that the Word deals with goodness and truth, by which a person is enabled to live in eternal happiness. In the internal sense therefore the Lord alone is the subject, for all goodness and truth are derived from Him" (Arcana Coelestia n. 2895).

Apparently people have a problem with logic and a lot of people have that problem.

Oh I wish Logic would be a necessary part of school and everyone had to take it.

You ask people to prove that The Bible is authentic...and they quote from the Bible.

I don't know if it proves it for you, but the provable historical events of the bible are accurate.
I'm not really looking to prove its authenticity to you though. At the end of the day, each on of us is going to believe what we want to. I don't think that Yahoo Answers is going to change that.

Because the Bible is the inspired Word of God.

"For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4 v 12.

It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in man. Psalm 118 v 8

If you are a Christian then you can test it and prove it.

"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times, Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever".
Psalm 12 v 6-7

"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God shall stand forever. Isaiah 40 v 8

We can check first for the "ring of truth" (do the action and characters and their behaviors match what we know of human nature and the human experience).

And we can then check specific statements from the Bible against what we know of reality.

To quote the Bible is not invalid (it is just like quoting from any other book, when we are checking the validity of that book).

Cordially,
John

The Bible says it's authentic. History and Archeology has proven it also. What we see happening today was prophecied in the Blble. Don't need more than that do ya?

The authenticity of the Bible has been verified by archaeologists and historians as being accurate as to their fields. If it is accurate to these things it would likely be accurate to the rest of its statements. This is the same bases that scientific theories are held to.
