The Catholic Church believes that God transcends the human distinction between the sexes.

Since we are made in the likeness and image of God, God looks kind of like you and me.

With love in Christ.

Well, though I cannot say for sure (I haven't met God yet), I would suggest that he is neither. I cannot see what use God would have for the genitalia that he granted to living things for use in reproduction (and I suppose for recreational puposes in a few species) on earth... Especially if your belief is that he is the only one of his kind.

Polytheism is a different story, those gods all had fathers, sons, wives, brothers, sisters, etc... I would assume that in a polytheistic belief system, it is not farfetched for a god to possess gender or sex.

While some may mention the use of the pronoun 'He' to describe God, it is important to remember how our society looked at women so long ago. Not exaclty with the same degree of respect and equality as today. Besides, what other pronoun could they use for a kingly, creator? It? That isn't really very personal is it? They wanted to echo power, they used He. All the rulers up to that point were male. Father was also used, but I would say because they were trying to say creator. Created by God, 'incubated' on earth.

This is all without mentioning the fact that God, in addition to not needing a sex, really doesn't need a body. The physical bodies we all have are the way they are for efficiency and survival purposes.

May I answer you in terms of spirituality rather than the dogma of traditional religion?

Traditionally, God is called"He."

God is a spirit-mind. He fills all space and is the All. Spirit is not visible to the human eye.

Spirit embodies both aspects of what we call the feminine and the masculine. He is Power. That equals, traditionally, masculinity. (Although that is changing today as we see it!) He is the One Who gives birth. He is nurturing, loving and gentle. That equals, traditionally, the feminine. (That, too, is changing today - as we see it!) Your Creator/Father (traditionally speaking) contains BOTH attributes. God is not actually a man, nor a woman. Rather, God is the All, the Everything, and contains all Knowledge.

Spirit is an essence. You may think of it's Being as a white-ish essence like a cloud - just for the sake of some imagery. We are made in His image. We, too, are spirit. The human, physical appearance? That's another question entirely. If it is asked - I will answer.

I hope this is helpful.

Most answers your going to get are neither. Not like theyre worng though, God is neither man or woman, but he did create man and woman though, so its difficult for us to understand how a being can exist and have no gender, But the Bible does refer to God as a male.

Also, in the Bible, it says no one can see God and live, so we may never know exactly how he looks XP

I don't think God is neither a man nor a woman. God does not even have to be made of matter.

Do you think of God as a human?
Do you think of God as part of a precise religion?
Each religion has its own answer to give you. Bible, Koran, Torah etc...
What about God as a Spirit? (No body= no gender)
What about God's very existence?
What about God as part of a big Gods family with many of them male, female and animals etc...? (like ancient religions of Egypt, America, Asia or Europe).
Present days religions tend to be monotheist what will religions of the future be?

Bible indicates "our Father" repeatedly. I'm going out on a limb and saying male. There is a description of "the Son of man" or Jesus found in Revelation chapter one verses 13- 15 I think they must look similar???

All references in the Bible to God (YHVH), the Father, seem to describe Him in masculine terms. See Ezekiel 1:26.
