christians claim that people go to heaven or hell after they died.
If human beings were given free will, why can't we choose Not to go anywhere after death?

providing 2 options to choose from isn't free will.
For example : would you choose to eat **** in chocolate flavor, or chocolate in **** flavor? Free will means you can choose not to eat either.

free will is never mentioned in the bible, but predestination is. when God hardens a person's heart, like he did with pharoah, it seems reasonable to conclude that pharoah had no control over having his heart hardened, so where was his free will? as much as i would like to believe in absolute free will, i think it is an illusion, and that there is some strange mixture of determinism and 'free will' in the human soul.

I don't believe that people truly have free will- religion makes an impression on our conscience and mind from the time that we are little by the implication free will with the contradiction of having commandments and rules we all must follow if we want to go to "heaven" or not.

We are meant to believe that we have the right to choose but, in reality, it isn't socially acceptable to chose what isn't "normal" to everyone else. So if you were to truly follow your "free will" you would be cast out- possibly sent to jail, and or deemed some kind of bad person.

Simply put: We are made in the image of God and like Him. He is spirit-mind. So are we. Our will is the same as His Will. We "will" with Him and like Him - at home in His Kingdom. He created like Himself. As long as you follow His Will in situations, there can be no difficulty. Think like Him. You are a part of Him.

In the human experience, our ego minds have many choices to make on a constant basis. Free Will means you have the right to choose as you see fit. That includes bad decisions as well as the type the Creator would make, Himself.

Bad decisions need correcting. Correction at the level of spirit-mind thinking. Jesus and the Holy spirit are in charge of those corrections. Lessons - you may or may not recognize - are given to you. These lessons are repeated, gently, to teach you - until you recognize the lesson before you, in life, and change your thinking! There is truly a great order to things in the Universe that most of us are not aware of. War, Murder, etc., are seen as lack of order. Truly, order goes way deeper and beyond those things.

We can not die. You are created eternal - like your Creator. No one is ever actually lost. They are still around for you! Don't go by appearances - no matter how real it seems to your five senses. Thank God for our eternal-ness! Thank God for our lessons - Free Will is sanctioned by God, Himself. It's a law of His Kingdom. Amen!

It's the free will to choose one of the options that are given. How come we don't have "free will" to fly around like superman? Well, that's not one of the choices. I'm an atheist and that's how I see it.

Martin Luther wrote an interesting treatise on the subject entitled "The Bondage of the Will." In it he argues the will is not free.

Actually, no one believes in COMPLETELY free will as we are all constrained by certain laws. For example, My will isn't free to choose to float on air with nothing supporting me due to the law of gravity.

People have a free -will to choose God or not. God never gave them the choice on where they spend eternity. They will go to whomever they choose as their God. If you say no God that is denying God and is a sin. So you have chosen for your God Satan. That is as far as your free-will can take you.

That is exactly right. You have just hit the spot. That is the only thing we can do freely - say NO. Say ''No'' and for sure, you will not go anywhere, nothing will happen, nothing will change. I am absolutely positively sure of that.
