The instant coffee isnt as good as the brewed, so I'm thinking of getting a Starbucks Barista solo brewer. Is this a good decision for once a week?

I dont really care if the coffee I brew in the Barista is Starbucks or not... But it seems really cool and only 70 dollars.

Even if you only drink coffee once a week, don't you want that cup of coffee to be a good one? If friends come over for coffee, don't you want to be able to offer them something other than the truly ugly taste of instant coffee?
If you can afford the Barista solo brewer, get it and enjoy good coffee, even if it's just once a week.
Life's enjoyment is made up of little pleasures, not the big things. You likely will never win a lottery, but you can certainly enjoy a good cup of coffee!

First, how much does this solo brewer cost?
Do you purchase your one cup of coffee from a coffee shop like Starbucks? If so, you are spending approx. $3.00 once a week, that is 52 weeks x 3.00 = $156.00.
On the other hand, if you purchase Folger's coffee singles, and use one single coffee bag once a week (boil water, pour in large cup, add bag, let steep for 5 minutes), this is a much less expensive endeavor. And you may find that the Folger's coffee singles taste better than instant granules.

If you still don't like the Folger's, it may take a long time to justify the cost of the Starbucks machine.

But then, if you owned the machine, you might have coffee more often, which is in itself, more expense.

Tough decision...If you only drink coffee once a week, go with the Folgers.

for once a week, buy a $20 mr. coffee or a black and decker. or, just buy your one coffee a week. If you're going to buy a Starbucks Barista Solo Brewer, than I'm assuming that you're going to to buy Starbucks coffee by the pound to use in it. In that case, you're probably better off just buying coffee from starbucks, it will cost about the same and you won't have to wait for it to finish brewing. Dunkin Donuts coffee is WAY better though, and about 1/4 the price.

I drink coffee all the time and the taste depends on the quality of the bean and the water. The professional coffee makers are a lot more expensive than 70 bucks. For the daily cup, I'd go with one for 20 bucks.. that's what I use.

not really. for only once a week, it won't be that useful and depending on how expensive the coffee machine is, it might be a while for the whole not going to the coffee shop to actually count. I'd stick with starbucks.

Just buy a cheap small coffee maker, that should do you for the once a week thing and it is much cheaper then Starbucks. Just buy your favored blend of coffee and go for it.

Why not, you'll be saving way more that way than going to Starbucks once a week and blowing $5. Within 4 months you'll be in the positive.

I'd get a coffee press. Grind your own beans and boil some water. No filters needed! You can get smaller presses that work great, a couple of cups of coffee max. In lieu of grinding your own beans you can get ground coffee as well. Due to some financial constraints at the moment I'm using folgers ground coffee in my press and it works well. That's what I would do.

I would go for a coffee press. They're smaller easier and you can store them in the cabinet with the coffee cups instead of out on the counter. Pressed coffee is even better than drippy.
