Ok, I am not going to quote a book, or scientist or anything like that..... I am just going to be completely honest.
Nobody.....not even scientists..... can explain dreams. They go on in your head, they are not something physical that you can study. Unless you believe in God..... than their is NOBODY that fully understands dreams... even if they say they do. But just for the heck of it, I am going to tell you my theory:
They are pieces of events in your life that your brain remembers and they get jumbled together when you are sleeping. It is like your brain is unwinding from the stressful day..... this is why I think I am correct....
I had a dream when I was littler that my parents were in our car and they shrunk and they got lost and I never saw them again. That night... I had been watching Honey I Shrunk the Kids. See how my theory makes sense??? Pieces of my real life, and pieces of the movie got jumbled together and made a BAD/SAD dream!
Anyways.. that is my crazy theory. But I think dreams are so interesting because nobody can explain them. Because we wouldn't be so fascinated with them if we new everything about them. So the mystery causes interest! =) I hope I have helped!

I had always read where Your dreams are ways of working Your problems out. I've hd bad dreams, but in the morning I try to recall what made Me afraid, and then I can see.

Try not to take your bad dreams too seriously. I read somewhere that nightmares are just your psyche's way of taking a dump.
Sorry to sound so crude, but it seem to cut thru all the bull for me!

something as seemingly remote as a big dinner too late at night can cause bad dreams. the causes are many and varied.
