It seems like most of the atheists on this site are here to make fun of people. Am I wrong?

Thank you to all the nice Atheists for speaking up. Sometimes it's hard to hear you over all the yelling done by the Trolls. I just needed a reminder that there are good people on this site! :)

The people on here being rude are probably not Atheists at all. I don't know many disrespectful Atheist. However, there are a lot people out there who don't want the responsibility that comes with believing. There are also those who for some reason are angry with God and say they don't believe and take it out on everyone who claims to be religious. And then you have people who just want to cause a fuss because they, for some reason, need extra attention . . .low self-esteem or something. I know several Atheists and being Atheist doesn't mean that they don't have the same values as any other person who believes God. When it comes down to it, we don't have to agree with one another's religions or the Athiest point of view, or the Agnostics for that matter. But we need to have mutual respect for one another. Asking valid questions is one thing, you know, when we are actually trying to figure out the other side of the coin but to ask questions just to get a reaction or to be disrespectful is just selfish, morally wrong, and idiotic.

I guess this is an extension of your last question, which asked what was the most Satanic thing ever done in the name of Atheism. From there you then revealed your true intention, which was to "call" Atheists "on the carpet" for being rude, to achieve some sort of balance for them "calling" Christians "on the carpet."

Yet as I review the responses to that question, I don't see anyone being rude. The same seems to hold true here. So ... why paint with such a broad stroke?

I am not an atheist - I am an agnostic.

But I promise to be courteous to each post that is not utterly stupid and opinionated; those, I ignore or report.

Open minds are what counts.

Can't we all simply discuss ideas without getting hateful?

This is no more than Yahoo Answers, after all!

You are definitely not wrong. Many of us hate crazy christians. (don't count me out for that, although I don't shove it into people's faces) But I can, most of the time, as long as whoever I'm talking to is being rude to me first. Then I have a right to pull out my sharp tongue.

You're wrong. I'm not here to bash on any religion, just to learn why they believe what they do. It's the ignorant insecure ones that give us all a bad name.

In my humble opinion, what can be more rude then coming on a religious board to mess with peoples faith? I think some people may just be very confused, and that makes them a bit angry. .
