Morning sickness is really just low blood sugar. It usually happens in the morning because she hasn't eaten all night long, but it could happen any time of day. Ginger is a good choice, but anything that she will eat that she can eat every 2 or 3 hours will keep her blood sugar up. It doesn't have to be a whole meal every 2 hours (a good way to gain WAY too much weight!) just enough to keep blood sugar up. I would usually have half an apple, but it really is better if you can have a little protein every time you snack too.

The BRAT diet..which includes Bread, Rice, Apple juice or sauce and Tea..anything bland like rice, baked potato, jello, crackers, broths, cola or sprite, Gatorade...we tell our Mom's to be to try this stuff to help settle the stomach..you may need medication that is safe in pregnancy to keep your nausea away..but any bland type food is better..when you feel better eat anything that tastes good..stay away from seafood until you talk with your physician about when it is safe and what you can eat (mercury) exposure.

If you really have "extreme nausea" you should see your doctor - my sister nearly killed herself thinking it was just "morning sickness" you will start metabolising your own body cells, (when you have used up the fat cells, you will start on the muscle) to the detriment of your kidneys.

But if it is normal "morning sickness" I found the best thing to do was eat something I didn't like anyway - in my case baked beans - then it didn't matter if I threw up I wasn't putting myself "off" anything, and I was satisfying my stomach's urge to empty itself.

Then I would eat all those things I really liked, like poached eggs on spinach smothered with cheese sauce, and sadly (for my waistline) in the case of my second son, Mars bars - hate the things, did before, and one has never passed my lips since.

In pregnancy it is what you fancy when you fancy it -
Good Luck with the baby

Ginger is great for nausea. Try ginger snaps, ginger beef, ginger tea, ginger ale (Vernor's is the BEST), chocolate covered ginger (Laura Secord), make your own juices and put a piece of ginger through your juicer along with your favourite fruits/vegetables. As a snack, munch on candied ginger or ginger pieces in syrup (I, personally, rinse the sugar and syrup).

Ginger is a natural remedy for nausea. Most commercial ginger ales don't contain real ginger, though. And, believe it or not, AFTER my pregnancies, I was told that hot peppers helped. Don't know if I'd try it though.

when iwas pregnant i had terrible nausea, but ginger anything (biscuits, tea, crystallised ginger) helped me lots. i also craved plain, starchy food like crackers, they seemed to settle my stomach. hope that helps (and it wont be forever i promise) x

I don't think that there is any.
When I was pregnant all I could hold down was Cesar salad and garlic bread...literally!
