Go to www.doom9.net. Download DVD Decrypter. It's free and the only one that I use. It rips the movie and removes the copy protection. Use DVD Shrink only if the movie is too long to burn onto a single layer DVD. I use Ulead Movie Factory to burn my DVD's.

DVD Shrink cannot burn newer movies released in approx. the last 6 months, because it is no longer updated and cannot remove the new copy protection schemes. All you have to do is first copy the DVD to the Hard drive in DVDFab Decrypter, and then open the files in DVD Shrink.
You can find a full DVD Burning guide at the link below:
http://computer-tricks.blogspot.com/2006/07/burning-new-dvds.html
It includes screenshots, and links to download the 3 programs you will need to burn DVD movies.
3 Programs used in the guide (download links are included):
DVDFab decrypter
DVD Shrink
Nero

dvd decrypter
one of the best programs out there
copy your dvd with this and then burn using dvd shrink works like a charm
Plus this a freeware not a trial so I would download this program before anything from slysoft (clonedvd, anydvd)

Try the FREE trial programs at
http://slysoft.com
You will need 2 programs: AnyDVD (removes encryption)
and CLONEDVD2 (remasters DVD to any size)
Both have FREE 21 day trial to decide if you want to buy, and are on sale until 7/31 with code you will find on the site (birthday)
Also try Virtual Clone Drive -- always free!

yeah i personally like dvd decryptor the best... and if you select IFO mode, it will let you just select the main movie portion of the disc if you're burning to a dvd+/- r
go to:
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/DVD_Decrypter/1011845169/1
also, buddy use that dvd shrink... if you have nero recode it's the way to go, but as far as freeware, you can't beat it. it's free!

You need a computer geek to install a certain program on your computer but this is highly illegal everywhere
