22 ammo is rimmed (like a shotgun shell). it has to be in a stack for it to feed properly. other centerfire handgun ammo is rimless, so it can be staggered in the magazine.

So far k_d has been the only one to get it right.

.22's are for target or fun plinking at a range, where you really don't need more than 10 rounds (though it is nice).

Higher caliber pistols are for self defense, law enforcement, combat, and related competitions and all require larger capacity so you don't have to reload as much underfire when a few extra rounds will save your life.

Like paul67337 Said, the .22 LR is a rimfire cartridge and can't be double stacked in a magazine, so you can only have as many rounds as you can stack in a single stack end to end that will still fit inside the grip.

GOOD QUESTION!
The reason(my opinion) is that high capacity was developed for combat and most people don't choose a 22 for that.
It could be a fun plinker.
There is one called a tec 22 and Grendel makes a .22 Magnum with 31 shot capacity -lots of fun- I KNOW!

alot of that depends on when the gun was manufactured. if you can find a gun that came around before the brady bill it will probably hold more than ten rounds. my .22 rifle was imported into america before the brady bill and it holds 15 rounds. depending on the type of gun you might be able to find aftermarket clips that hold more than ten rounds. if you have any more questions on the gun e-mail me at walker87a@yahoo.com
