In my lab, if you get burnt, you run your hand under cold water for 15 minutes. Yeah, it's a long time, but keep doing it the full 15, even if it quits hurting.
From Yahoo Health: The American Academy of Family Physicians recommends that you never put butter, oil, ice or ice water on a burn. Instead, soak it in cool water. Then apply aloe vera or an antibiotic ointment. Cover the area with a clean, dry gauze dressing. An over-the-counter pain reliever, such as Tylenol, Advil or Motrin can be used to reduce pain and discomfort.

If it's a minor burn...
Run cool water over the burn or soak it in cool water for at least 5 min.
Cover the burn with a clean, dry bandage.
Do NOT put lotion or ointment over your burn.
If it's a serious burn...
Cover the burn with a cool, wet bandage or cloth, but do NOT break the blisters.
Do NOT put lotion or ointment on the burn.
PS:It's a common myth covering a burn with petroleum jelly, butter, or a greasy ointment will help. But that can hold in heat. Also, ointments must be removed before a doctor can treat the burn. This process is painful and can delay your treatment.

First, run it under cold water. If the skin is red but not broken, use burn cream from a first aid kit or aloe from an aloe plant. If the skin is broken, visit the ER and let them take care of it before it gets infected.

Run your thumb under cold water for several minutes. If you have anything that contains aloe vera it will soothe the burn! Ouch! I HATE when that happens!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd pour some cold water on it and then put some burn ointment on it and a bandaid and hope for the best.

Start running around in circle screaming. Then start hurdling over fences till you get to a neighbor pool, then jump in.

If it looks infected take your self to the doctors, otherwise use a bit of minty toothpaste on it.

Ice water. Soak it. If the burn is severe, you may have to go to the ER.
