The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.
The Church specifically says, "They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."
With love in Christ.

These are Old Testament Laws that were necessary at that time. (that is a WHOLE different discussion)
However, if you read on in to the New Testament, there are several passages where Jesus makes it pretty clear that we are to hate the sin and not the sinner, that He came here as a new covenant between us and God. He did not condone violence against ANYONE for ANY reason. He stopped the adulteress from being stoned, right?
Jesus' teaching were about love. Love thy neighbor. Period. Not love the person who is doing right. Not love the person who believes the same thing you believe. But love your neighbor.
I don't like giving out "well in verso so and so", I would encourage everyone to get a bible, a good everyday translation like the Living Bible and read for themselves. Because you will be SO surprised. The crap that makes it on to TV is usually like so NOT what Jesus is telling us. God is ALL about love, peace.
So anyone who uses the Old Testament Laws as an excuse for violence or hate is NOT a Christian and is NOT following the TRUE teachings of Christ. Period.

the "Christians" (NB: QUOTE QUOTE) who carry those "God hates fags" signs carry a very untrue, incorrect message. God does NOT hate gays. God hates homosexuality, the idea, the concept, not the people themselves. (Old Testament and New Testament)
Jews are still restricted in diet (Old Testament), but Christians can eat the food that was once "impure" by the Law, so Christians can eat shellfish. :) (New Testament) (find this in Acts 10:9-16)
As for one of your Christian answerers who said homosexuality is not wrong, its just misinterpreted in the Bible-- i dont believe he's very right. There aren't many ways to interperet it, its not obscure or anything. Time does not change what is right. We can't twist the Bible to suit our culture today.

In the Old Testament the Israelites were under the LAW.
Many Orthodox Jews are still under the law because they cannot see that Jesus came to fulfill and magnify that Law.
In the New Testament, Peter was given a vision and God told him to eat foods that were previously known as an "abomination" to eat. But God told him to eat it because it was NO LONGER an abomination because the
law of eating certain foods in the Old Testament was no longer valid.
It was also a type of showing Peter
that the Gentiles who were also once considered "unclean" to the Jews,
were mow not considered "unclean"
but now also allowed to receive the Holy Spirit
that the Jews had received in the Upper Room
at Pentecost.
As for the perversion of a man laying with a man.
Even nature itself shows that it is harmful to their body.
A true Christian hates the sin...not the sinner.
And a true Christian believes
that God can help anyone with any problem or need.
All things are possible...only believe in Him.

I don't think that most Christians hat, harass and torture gays. There are millions of church going Christians in America. How many of them have tortured or harassed a homosexual.
Whether I am a Christian or not, I find some homosexual activities to be gross. That deosn't mean I hate or even condemn anyone. It's just how I feel. It's not necessarily out of ignorance. Don't some things gross you out that don't bother other people?

i have self belief there is one genuine church and all genuine believers via out the completed international are participants. This church isn't made from brick and mortar, it really is made from individuals and The Holy Spirit. The Church began with the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and is composed of all genuine believers. The Holy Spirit baptizes everyone into the only body of Christ. Water baptism isn't needed for salvation yet is an affidavit to the international. (Acts one million:8; I Corinthians 6:19-20; Acts 2:one million-4; I Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 4:5; Acts 10:40 seven)

I assure you, sir, that hating, harassing, torturing and killing, are NOT things peculiar to Christians. If you hate Christians for those reasons, you had better hate everybody of every religion, including atheists, because they ALL do it. In other words, the actions you detest are attributes of HUMANS, not specifically Christians. Do SOME Christians do those things? Yes, just as SOME people of all groups do those things! Why? Because Christians are HUMANS too! The only difference is, Christians at least TRY to act right. Are they perfect? NO. Are you? NO.

New Testament = New covenant (new system of religion). We don't do lots of things the Old Testament requires. This is a Basic Theological truth in Christianity (Homosexuality is condemned in the New Testament too.)
-I don't appreciate being yoked with the "God hates fags" lunatics. I don't call them Christians. (just because you are in a garage doesn't make you a car)
-You need to work on your understanding of Christian theology a little more before making such rash, sweeping allegations.

The church goers will pretty much do whatever the churches want them to do. It's all mind control. There are also rational thinking people who understand the times that don't follow along so it can even out. In biblical times they had no way of knowing that homosexuality is a biological condition that one is born with, and not a lifestyle choice. Since science has proved this I'm sure that they will let it lie.

I'm allergic to fish, and I'm not good at carrying signs for long periods of time. LOL!
the Bible does condemn eating shell fish in the old testament, but later tells us that eating it is OK.. since the law was done away with after Jesus became our new covenant. however homosexuality is still wrong throughout both testaments. you do the math.

Yah, see the New Testament is supposed to override the old Testament when it comes to the rules (basically follow the ten commandments, with a couple of extras.) The old testament is there for a history lesson, as well as personal lessons and advice.
Alotta Alotta alot of Christians don't understand that.
But alot of them also don't understand that their hate, harassment and torture is never warranted. Ever.
(That message goes out to George Bush. Killer and hater of almost all races, and religions. Including the one he supposedly stands for.!)
