I am considering "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton in memory of my dad, but I don't want to be balling the entire night either! Please help, what song will pay respect to my dad but also show my mom how thankful I am to have her by my side?

"Dance with my Father Again" by Luther Vandross. Athough the song expresses the hurt of losing a father it's soothing melody still however suggests a respectful and healthy reflection of the relationship between a man (father/husband) and his family.

A friend of mine danced with her mother to "I Hope You Dance", but again this is your wedding. "Tears in Heaven" is a beautiful song, and there are others as well. Think I'd discuss the song choice with mom, but once again it's your wedding. Whatever you choose, people will appreciate & be touched by it.

Ask ur mum. I'm sure she has something special that she would love to share with you in this way. U r a great daughter, being so considerate of her. Hope your wedding day is awesome and the marriage even better.

Have your mom walk you down the aisle, but a mother-daughter dance is weird. Dance with an uncle or older brother or something, not your mom. Two women slow dancing is just strange.

This is a link to lyrics for the song. "You raise me up" by Josh Groban. I like the Celtic Woman version better but the words are beautiful.

The first verse is especially beautiful because it talks about how when you are down and sad that she is there to pick you up. It can relate to both your mother and your father.

I also like "in my daughters eyes" by Martina McBride.

Wind beneath my wings and because you loved me are old and tired and played all the time. Pick something unique that is true to you and your mother.

Go with the Eric Clapton, it would be a nice gesture in honor of your dad...You are going to be crying anyway because he isn't there .right so go ahead ..I am sure your mom will understand..........He will be with you you know..He is watching over you always

I had a dance with both of my parents, and with my mom I used Celine Dion's 'because you loved me'

good luck and congrats!

**there are some parts in the song that could be symbolic for your father.
