It is a natural ingredient from plants and used as a garden dust. No, do not put it in the animals eyes or nose.
One year when my puppies had fleas so bad, I took them outside, then dusted their bodies and necks with seven. Within a couple of minutes, fleas were falling off.
If you have babies that might chew on the carpet, you wouldn't want to use it on the dog.
I also use it to dust all of my chickens when they were sleeping one night to get rid of their mites.
It is safe for animals but do not get the dust in their lungs. I think that I used it once a week until the fleas were gone off from the puppies.
The flea stuff that you can buy in a store is very toxic and can't be used on a puppy under 6 weeks of age. I used seven on puppies only 2 weeks old. The only thing that happened to the puppies is that the fleas didn't live anymore on them. In time, the fleas all died off in the house. I couldn't use bug bombs because I had aquariums in the house.
The best things about seven is that it kills bugs, is safe, and is very cheap.

It's a pesticide, so it is toxic. The degree to which it will hurt your dog depends on the amount of the exposure, method and frequency of exposure, and the size/age of the dog.

Personally, my dog won't be exposed to it. But if it accidentally happened, I'd be on the phone to the vet ASAP.
