The gum on the far lower right side of my mouth (next to my molar) is incredibly sore, similar to what it would feel like if you had a popcorn kernel stuck in your gum. What's the best product to use to soothe the pain and/or cure the situation? I'm sure it's just a fleeting thing, but the pain is horrendous and I'm not sure what to use.

Anbesol. Available at any pharmacy.

Also, try warm salt rinses. About 1 tsp salt in a glass of warm water. Swish gently around gum.

You may have injured the gum and if so, like any sore it will subside soon. If the pain continues for more than one to two days, I'd recommend at least consulting a dentist by phone. Odds are anyone in the office can guide you
from there.

Source: been there, done that (ouch!)

PS. Avoid Orajel. Orajel can actually inflame oral tissues. Use Anbesol. That's what your dentist will tell you.

Sounds like you have an infection or something stuck way down in the gum. Call a dentists office and talk to them over the phone or an orthodontist office. Orthodontists receptionists are usually very nice since they deal with that situation all the time.
In the meantime I would rinse with a warm saltwater solution. But do not wait to find professional help. Don't wait.It might turn into a big infection.

Any OTC product such as Anbesol or Orajel wil provide temporary relief but I stress TEMPORARY. For a more natural approach try L-Lysine. It is a natural supplement and can be found in the vitamin aisle at the store. Break open the caps and rub it on your gums and it should help the soreness by the next day.

First floss to be sure it isn't something stuck causing the pain. The best thing to use would be warm salt water. Things like ambesol can cause more irritation. If the pain is that severe I would call your dentist. It may be an infected tooth root or something serious

you need to see a dentist right away. You have a gum infection.
If you don't treat it, you might actually lose that tooth.

Floss it right now. Plus rinse with Listerine. Make an appointment ASAP.

You could try ambisol. It will numb it for a while. Then when it lets up you could rinse your mouth out with proxide but be careful not to swallow it . It will pull the poison out if there is any.Good luck to you. I've been there. and know how painful that can be. You might want to talk to a pharmasist. to find out which is better. there is another one simular to that one but can't think of the name.

First, floss all your teeth and then brush them. Put mouthwash in your mouth and hold it for a least a minute. It will sting. This kills the infection that is causing the pain. However, if you need a root canal, and it does not sound like you do, see a dentist as soon as possible.

You very likely do have something in there. It maybe painful but the very best thing you can do is floss. You might want to rinse with salt water too. You should be much better in the morning.

Peace!

just try a warm rinse of salt water every 30 min till you go to bed. brush your teeth tonight gently, and use Listerine. 2 days of this assuming its not gum disease, and it should be back to normal.
