Depending on what state you are in they may have different requirements but in general you need to be proficient in American Sign Language and learn about the ethical side of being an intepreter(some rules and guidelines that need to followed there) You can test out of some stuff, depending on your knowledge of ASL and other things. You might also be able to be certified at different levels, 1 2 3 or 4 depending on your skill and whatnot. Try the resources below or just go to nad.org if that doesn't work and search for interpreting/interpreters.

I am fluent in American Sign Language, although I don't use it to teach.

They'll probably test your communication skills in ASL, your personality, and your tact.

It's hard to say.

you have to go to school and take ASL classes, and then get certified by the state

they ask you to place a loaded pistol to your right ear and pull the trigger. If you live, and recall the the blast from the barrel discharging the bullet.... you pass!!!
