Oh, my freaking GOD! I have absolutely NO idea what the hell I should do???

Ok ok ok, it didn't seem to be one of those days right. Everything was normal up until the time when I decided to go to the video store to get some movies for the kids as a surprise for the weekend. I hopped into the car, opened the garage door, and proceeded to throw the old gal in reverse. Nothing special right?

OH MY FREAKING GOD I BACKED OVER THE NEW KITTEN

We just got the kitten NOT TWO WEEKS ago and my kids are going to go NUTS!!!!

They get out of school in 3 HOURS!!!

WHAT THE HELL DO I DO????

PEOPLE, THIS IS NOT A TRUE INCIDENT, CHECK OUT THE FREAK'S NAME - HE OBVIOUSLY HAS NO LIFE, HE HAS BEEN SENDING ALL SORTS OF SICK QUESTIONS AND OBVIOUSLY GETS OFF ON IT - PATHETIC PERVERT - HE ADMITS ON BLOGS & WEBSITES THAT HE ENJOYS RUINING PEOPLE'S INTERNET ACTIVITIES, AS HE HATES PEOPLE AND DOING SO GIVES HIM PLEASURE...A QUOTE: . I'm not addicted to the games, I'm addicted to ruining them for everyone.
else. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you hate people, the internet is a great place to take it out on them.

Actually, the joke is on him, as he makes most of us thank god we're not like him.......and can move on. He's obviously stuck in his internet world.

For the sake of your integrity and self respect, fess up. If the kids cry over the accident, the louder the better. It's called grieving, and the more intense, the sooner a person gets it out of their system. The whole mess also teaches the kids a lesson. It's a damned unpleasant lesson, for sure, but everybody has to learn that there will be disappointments in life, and they won't be the end of everything. Then, after it all settles down, if the younguns want another kitten, go get it for them.

How horrible. I ran over a dog once...but he didn't get seriously hurt, and got up right after...and I still felt awful for weeks. I still do when I think about it. I totally feel for you. My dad ran over two kittens once when I was little. I was outside when it happened. They were on top of the tire when he backed out. There is nothing you can do to not make this suck for your kids. You are going to have to explain the theory of accidents...and life and death...and you are going to have to seriously apologize. They might blame you for a while, but as long as you make it clear to them that you feel terrible as well...they'll come around.
You are going to have to get a new kitten....but I would wait a while, let them mourn this one. Sorry about your day...and your kitten.

oh yeah: let them know the cat didn't suffer...even if you think it did. Hope it didn't.

Bury the kitten, get smacked into the reality that kittens should NEVER be outdoors in the first place, and go on a search for a replacement kitten OR, tell your children the truth, the kitten shouldn't of been outdoors, was exposed to unnecessary danger, and fell victim to a vehicle.

well, first find your kids a knew kitten. having something is better than having nothing. and then if the kids ask why don't you say that the pet store called and the mother cat was getting very very sick and the owners of the mother cat wanted the baby . and if your kids are really young you can get away with that.

I'm so sorry to hear about your poor kitten.

First, the kitten should not have been outside in the first place. Second, you are going to have to explain the facts of life and death to your children as there is no way to replace the poor animal in three hours.

You calm down, take some deep breaths. Put the kitten in a box and bury it somewhere. Tell the kids there was an accident and kitty is gone. Pick up a new kitty.

New kitten--my dad once let my cat out of the house one night, and found it on the side of the road the next day, and that's what he did. But we also had a "life" chat, and I think doing both will help. Remember to apologize if you do explain what happened, but we are all human and make mistakes, adults, too!

Tell them the truth. Kids are much better at dealing with truth than most people assume. Death is a reality that they will have to come to grips with many times during their life. Now is a good opportunity to start getting them used to the idea that everything that lives must die.

Get rid of the body. Say kitten ran away. Buy new kitten. Avoid scarring children emotionally. Good luck!

This is where a white lie might help. I don't know what you should do. Tell them the truth? Perhaps. How old are they? If they are old enough to understand that it was an accident - the truth. If they are under age 10, a white lie. I'm so sorry to hear this.
