If a million people send a dollar to a million different households, how is that helpful? If a family lives in poverty, one dollar makes no difference in their life. In fact, it might be insulting to them.
I don't mean to attack you personally, the world needs people who think of helping, but a lot of peole waste a lot of time doing things that, in the end, aren't really helpful at all.
I wish all the people who wanted to give a dollar would instead work out solutions on how to get people completely out of poverty. We keep giving them monthly checks, food, whatever, but that's not a solution. That doesn't get them out of poverty. How do we actually solve the problem?

Not necessarily. Who's to say the "needy" family wouldn't go and spend it on cigarettes, alcohol, crack or marijuana? I mean....yeah there are some families who would benefit but a lot of poverty is caused by lack of education and/or not knowing how to manage money. Example: Come down to any convince store where I live here in NY and you will see poor mothers and fathers spending 20+ dollars on lottery tickets when that money could go for food and/or diapers. Its pretty sad but some people are just poor and dumb. And those people keep on breeding so the cycle continues......

No. In order to end poverty you have to stop or eliminate the thing (s) that are causing it. However, if everyone in a community gave a dollar to someone, I'm sure it would help them out a lot. I've often thought of doing that myself, but I would just be out right honest and say I want the money to buy a new Mercedes.

Why? Who cares? I take care of mine. Let these people take care of theirs. I don't need help and if I did, I sure as hell would not ask or accept it from a stranger. On top of that, I have a very close family. I pay enough in taxes to help these so called good people in dire financial need! Let them get their help there.

i will be honest. i dont like to see people suffer, but sending them money is not the answer. i read a short story last year that changed my view of helping people. i cannot remember the name, but it said that people starving and having hardships and dying is natures way of getting rid of the weak. it also said that if we help these people, they will live to grow up and have more children. they will not be able to afford to raise these children either, and they too will become our responsibility. so by not helping these people, we are helping them to stay out of future financial troubles and help ourselves a lot.

No, but if every church sponsored one homeless person, it would end homelessness in America.
