If as you say there is not hope for the relationship then it is probably not in your best interest or the mothers, and therefore the baby's for you to live in the home and its not necessary. I understand and admire your wanting to be close to the child but the child will bond with you just as easily if you are regularly and consistently a part of its daily life. However, I'm going to say something to you out of personal experience. It probably is not a good idea to be too close (even in another bedroom) with the mother right now. During the last weeks of pregnancy and after the baby is born, her harmones are going to go even wackier and if you show a strong desire to be involved there is a strong chance that she could misinterpret that as evidence of your feeling something for her. Then if you did move out or found someone that you were interested in she may become angry and retaliate. In my case my husband and I were seperated just prior to our daughter's birth but I know that during that period of time I missed him horribly even though I realistically knew we'd never get back together. Plus if the child gets use to your being there and things don't work out it would just be harder for a young child that is too young to explain anything to. All the child would know is that you weren't there. Think about it seriously. You can be a good father without living under the same roof with the mother and the child.

As we grew older,my parents slept in different rooms. They wanted to stay together for us.It worked for them.HOWEVER,he was ok and she was too, with the fact that they cared about each other and that they were going their seperate ways.It really sucks that just when you have a baby coming into this world, things fall apart. It would have been nice if you had made this decision BEFORE she got pregnant. My suggestion first,is to try and make it work. You have a baby that needs mommy and daddy and maybe with time, things can get better.IF you can't,then IF you sleep in two diff. rooms, make sure she is okay with the fact that you care for each other, but are no longer together.Because IF she still wants to be with you, then, she isn't going to be ok with you moving on in life.It will be a strain on her and her pregnancy and could cause harm to the baby.just communicate and try to get along, for the baby's sake.Good luck!!

sorry but this will probally not work it could if she feels the same way that there is no chance at a relationship.. however usually one or the other feels betrayed when the person starts dating other people and it will lead to arguments and fighting in front of the child. It's great that you want to be a part of your child's life a sing of a real man but i would suggest visitation and pay your child support otherwise your setting yourself up for a move into hellish situation... good luck

My friend did this after the second baby, but he is a corrections officer and "needed" his sleep more then she did (HAHA). She slept with the baby in "their room" but when its time to leave the crib and go to the toddler bed, he is supposed to go back.
If you don't plan on staying "with" this person, I don't think its going to work. What happens if you want to bring someone home? If you can handle no sex for the rest of your life, don't do it.

Man are you a glutton for punishment? IF you bring home another girl she will be pissed at you and if she brings home another guy you will be pissed at her. There is no hope for you living with her and the baby. Pay your child support and visit the child as much as you can.

My stepson has done it and it's worked out well. Actually, he wasn't even the father of her two children, but he wanted them, and he is raising them without a romantic involvement with their mother.
