If the doctor diagnosed ringworm, then that is what you have. However, ringworm is not caused by worms. It is one manifestation of a yeast (candida) overgrowth.
This is what is responsible for athlete's foot, nail fungus, jock itch, vaginitis and a bunch of other skin conditions, and other things too.
You may want to go to www.hufa.org and click on the yeast link, for some basic information.
If loprox is an anti-fungal cream, it should work, as candida is a fungus.

It's a threadworm, my son had them a month or so ago. Go to your local pharmacy or doctor and they will give you a tablet that needs to be crushed up and given to her. As you found the worm, you, your cousins parents and any other family that the child has been in contact with will need treated too. Sheets, clothing, blankets and extra cleanliness (dusting, vaccuuming, hand washing after using the loo, before eating etc) is in order just incase there are any stray eggs around which would basically start the whole process of the worms again. Continue the vigourous cleaning for up to a week after the worms have gone too. Good Luck Edit: These are quite common in young children, she is not going to die, she just needs the right treatment. The medicine that i was given for my son kind of sedated the worms, so they could be passed more easily.

Ringworm is caused by the same bacteria as Athletes Foot...so use a medicine for athletes foot to cure it.
I learned this from a doctor when one of my children had ringworm years ago.

Ringworm comes from animals usually. I suggest if you sleep with your animals, or allow them to sleep on your bed, sofas, chairs, etc., you stop. Wash your hands after each encounter with an animal. If you get ringworm on your scalp, it will leave a bald spot and that can be very unsightly. You may want to check into a body detox for worms in general after this experience.
