Just got a job as a server and i need black slip resistant shoes. I have a pair of Vans skate shoes but I don't know if I am able to wear them at work. Can I? If not what shoes do you recommend?

i would vote for vans, the sole has an excellent stabilizing surface, and they wear well. 2nd choice would be skechers or new balance, they have some good black "server" shoes as well. good luck with your new job, and with your choice of shoes, too! (hint: when working on your feet for a living, don't wear the same shoes everyday. get at least 2 pair and alternate them. your feet will thank you for it.)

A vans are slip resistant for a skateboard and not for a server job. You need oil and water slip resistant shoe. That's a whole other shoes than you are thinking

No, Vans shoes aren't slip resistant. Since you got a job as a server, you'll need black shoes that are non slip. I highly recommend these from Amazon:

Men: http://amzn.to/1CcYFGp

Women: http://amzn.to/ZnIskW

These two shoes are some of the best slip resistant work shoes you'll find. Not only are they perfect for your work but they're really comfortable as well. You're going to be on your feet a lot so you'll need a pair of shoes that will have the cushion and support to prevent your from experiencing any pain.

They're pretty inexpensive too. Best price for these are on Amazon.

Most Vans board shoes are made to grip a skateboard and therefore are slip resistant. After time, the tread wears off (of any shoe) and they become dangerous to wear.
Any shoe with a rubber sole is slip resistant.

i think vans are slip resistant. they have that rubber waffle pattern on the botton (if you're talking about the slip-on ones). and they're designed for skateboarding. all skate shoes have to be slip-resistant to grip a board. and hey, i love my vans. if the vans company has been loved by skaters for this long, you'd think not many people have slipped off a board wearing them. hope this helps!

I've never met Van or seen his shoes, but I do know, as a chef of 25 years, that Streetcars are very slip resistant.

Mine are, I really loove Vans, they're the only shoes that don't give me blisters if I wear them without socks. I think mine are Muska's.

no they are not slip resistant You must be working at denny's wich corprate will not be happy with you wearing skate shoes... go with shoes for crews or go to walmart or k-mart for them. thats what all my servers do. eather shoes for crews, or walmart/kmart. its work so why ruin your good pair of shoes?
