Is Capeoira a Cardio-oriented martial art? Can people diagnosed with heart conditions participate? (i.e. if they are told they cannot lift heavy weights or lift more then 20lbs ?)

capoeira is quite amazing. very athletic, quite strenuous and complex. i've been doing "the usual" martial arts for quite a while, and tried a few classes some years ago. C is different in many ways-- someone who hasn't ever seen it would be totally surprised by a lot of the moves in a sparring situation. i think it requires more strength and agility than "the usual". and, i enjoyed the music as well as the general friendliness of all the participants. a very pleasant experience overall. in your case you must of course check with an MD first. good luck

any one diagnosed with heart condition, should see a doctor before starting a serious exercise plan. Walking is safe yet the most effective to keep a healthy heart

Your doctor knows best. With all Martial Arts, there are pretty extreme physical requirements.
I have a ventricular tachycardia and have a black belt in Taekwondo!
Impossible is nothing. (still check with your doc first)
