It all depends on where you are going and leaving from. My suggestion is - go to sites like travelocity.com and Orbitz.com They will give you a good idea af what the different airlines charge, what kind of lay-overs, etc. I have never booked through those sites though. If you go the the airline's website, you will find that the prices are usually the same except the other sites, (travelocity etc..) charge a fee, like $15/ ticket, the airlines don't have that extra charge. I have always gotten a better rate directly from the airline. One more suggestion- make sure you know what the final cost will be, some of the airlines initially publish the rate before the taxes and fees and some publish the initial rate after the taxes and fees are added in. You can check this by going through like you are booking the flight and then right before it asks for your credit card- it will give you the final cost. If it is higher than you thought, you can cancel it out at that point.

try sidestep.com they search through all the cheap tickets/ cheap seasts sites... the airlines etc.....for you...of course they add an addl for the ticket...but once you find the cheapest with all the information you can always go directly to the airline site and save that too...(sometimes tho the price they quote is the same as the airline--which means the airline is sending them the fee)

another tip...search on wed and thursday...cehapest fares are usually published then and disappear by friday...
