Actually, it's because when humans are FIRST started in the womb they start out with the female gene. That's where they get nipples. Basically, we all start out as females then change at some point.

From the context, I assume that you are asking why men have nipples. In short, it is because they are mammals! Women needed them, to feed babies, so men got them, too. As others mentioned, both sexes have similar shapes, for the first few weeks of development after conception. Nipples are part of the template.
(Women have a "penis", too; it is the clitoris!"

"Natasha Mitchell: Elisabeth Lloyd, you've looked at 21 theories or so all up of evolutionary explanations of the female orgasm, and you remain unconvinced by all of them but one possible option - and that is that the female orgasm has no evolutionary purpose at all. You're convinced by one particular person's study. You reckon that it's a bit like the male nipple, a mere by-product.
Elisabeth Lloyd: Donald Symons proposed long ago, in 1979, the female orgasm is basically a developmental by-product of selection on the male orgasm.
Male and female embryos share the same basic female body plan during the first two months of life in the uterus, and during that period the nerve and tissue pathways for orgasm get laid down - basically because the males need orgasm in order to impregnate the female and reproduce successfully and to reward them for doing so. But because the females share the basic body plan, they get the same nerve pathways and so they can have orgasms too, but there's no relation to reproductive success that has been established. So they seem to be just for free.
It is just like the male nipple. Females need nipples in order to reproduce successfully and because the females are laid down, again, in the same basic body plan for the first two months of life, the males get them even though they're not necessary for male reproduction. So the parallel is exact - males get nipples because females need them and females get orgasms because males need them.
Natasha Mitchell: What's the evidence that convinces you of this theory, or is it just the case that there's no evidence for all the other theories that convinces you enough?
Elisabeth Lloyd: No, no. This is often the accusation, actually, by the adaptationists, that believing in this theory is like giving up on adaptation. But that's not it at all. I mean ..."

the presence of nipples in male mammals is a genetic architectural by-product of nipples in females. So, why do men have nipples? Because females do.
