Here's the poem about the Rainbow Bridge, and it's not just for cats, but for all animals that were once loved by someone.
I think it's a nice sentiment even if some people think it's corny. Sometimes when you are grieving the loss of a beloved pet, corny just feels right.
I hope there really is a place just this side of heaven....

yes. According to many paranormal sources including near-death sources, animals have souls just as humans do. But humans, in general, have always considered animals to be inferior to people. Humans are at the top of the food chain and they are at liberty to kill and eat a wide variety of animal species. Animals, such as the horse, have lived as a virtual slave to human beings for thousands of years. Animals have also been treated in ways that can only be described as cruel and inhumane. Many people have treated animals this way without even the thought that, perhaps, animals have souls also. Science has given us a different perspective of the animal kingdom. Evolution reveals that the ancient ancestors of humanity were, in fact, animals. With this in mind, why shouldn't all people believe that modern humans are animals as well? Ancient civilizations had religions that even held animals to be divine beings. In the Bible, the Book of Revelation, a person can read about all kinds of animals in heaven. For all these reasons, there should be no reason to believe animals are inferior and have no souls.

The following are near-death experiences that involve communication and contact with animals on the other side - specifically beloved dogs that died before their owners had a near-death experience. These experiences should convince anyone that animals do, indeed, have souls.

This is a true story about something that happened many years ago when I was a child. I asked my minister if when I died and went to heaven would I see all my pets who had died again? His answer was no, because they do not supposedly have souls. I made my mide up then that if there were no animals in heaven then it would not be heaven to me. I am sure everything here that you loved and will love will greet you on the other side.

If there wasn't I would be totally disappointed. Heaven is supposed to be wonderful. If my pets weren't there what would be the purpose of heaven.

I've told every single pet that died that I would one day see them again. If I were to die and not be able to have my pets I would just as soon not be there. Part of heaven is being with the ones you love. Some of my pets, I love more than the living. I do believe I will be reunited with my dear friends one day. They are more innocent than most of the living. I have no doubt that one day me and my pets will be together again some day.
