Zeratul, I tried & tried, but I just cant find any knowledge in your answer, just a mix of sentences that dont answer the question posed & a deep frustration within you which you should keep to yourself & if you really want to let go, do it in such a way you dont harm anybody.
Anyway, going back to the question. Its not really a disease but the result of a gene mutation due to living environments dating to thousands of years ago. Its a nuisance, but perfectly livable. If you want a lot of information on the subject, try writing to www.coronilla.com they make food products gluten free that are sold mainly in europe and north america. You can also find plenty of gluten free products in health stores, and with time, as with everything else in life, it will just become part of the routine. Lots of luck, and perk up, its just a bump in the road, nothing else.

My aunt was diagnosed with this about 15 years ago and it has been tough watching her struggle. She started out at the local CO-OP buying special flour, but she has since found a few "Natural" stores that offer quite a bit of good food for her diet. At every family get together she is the one that brings "Dirt Cake". She makes it with her cookies and ingredients, so she can eat it too, and everyone always fights over who gets the worms! It's something that the whole family has accepted and we all try to work with her in mind. We just recently went on a weekend getaway with her (my 4 year old daughter and my mom), and my daughter asked her why she was bringing a bun into McDonalds with her. She looked at my daughter and said "because I like this restuarant too, but there buns aren't as good as mine!" My daughter laughed and we all had a great meal. I don't know if your local grocery store has a "nutritional" area or not, but that is a good place to start looking for the "right" foods also. There is a 5 year old boy at my daughter's daycare that has this also, and he is able to get chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and much more that are specially made for the gluten free diet.
Just work with her and encourage her. If at all possible, cause it can be expensive, try to make the everyday foods you eat with the "special" ingredients that she can eat too, so that the entire family can sit down to the same meal as often as possible. That will help her to grow up knowing that even though she has this disease, she can still be like everyone else, only a little more special!!
Good luck and Best Wishes to this perfectly wonderful 8 year old and the entire family!

The problem is your focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the few brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.

i worked at a camp with a few celiac kids. If she loves cake and bread there are alternatives. Certain companies make glutten free bread and cake mixes for people with cealic as well as things like oreos and pretzels, even pizza.

I myself was just looking @ Celiac thinking that my daughter had it. I read that she should be on a special diet. I found some sites for you on the diet and support. I was reading on a site which I can’t find now, was a child himself that stated he lived a normal life. He just ate a different diet from his family. Things may look grim now, and they will get better. Don’t take this personally as a parent.
