i'm doing an afternoon tea and was wondering which is the best way to serve the scones.

I've done it both. it depends on what you're serving it with. If I'm going to serve it warm I serve it with a honey or cream if I'm going to serve it cold I serve it with jams

I believe the most widely practiced presentation is room temperature, though like any other fresh baked product is at its best when still a little warm from the oven or lightly reheated, being careful not to dry them out? As they are typically a little dry to start with...

They're good either way, start them out warm and then when they come up to room temperature they'll still be good.
