i'm not sure that the bumps and the sleep issues are linked, but the bumps could possibly be hives. maybe you ate something funny and had an allergic reaction. if this happens again, i would go see a doctor.

Sounds like hives to me. Has it ever happened before when you were anxious or upset? Maybe the sleepless nights are getting the best of you. When you are lying in bed, what is going through your mind? Is there something bothering you? If so, talk to someone about it. If there are no problems apparent, try listening to the radio or TV at bedtime & see if that helps. It really does sound like hives. Scattered, red areas that may be raised & blotchy? Disappear almost as quick as they appeared? Find the cause of your anxiety and the hives will disappear.

Bug bites? I would reccomend going to a doctor if the bumps dont go away in a couple of days or get worse.
As for your sleep problem, drink camomile tea and inhale lavendar scents. They are natural ways to get your body to relax for sleep.
Again, if you cant sleep well for another week, visit the doctors about insomnia.
