No one here has considered that perhaps it isn't a new softare app you need, but a good *download*.
If you're downloading the super-quick mp4 files and .rmvb (which actually isn't so bad depending on the severity it's compressed), well, you're getting what you didn't "pay" for due to impatience.
I mean, if you've downloaded a 2 hour movie and the file size was like 400mb, then crap is to be expected. Sorry 'bout that.
Or GLASSES; *maybe* a trip to the eye doctor is imminent.
But I could misunderstand you and if so, I apologize.

it depends what type of video it is....
just use windows media player, real player, and quick time. those are some software you can use to watch videos

VLC Media Player is preety good. (Though bit basic)
RealPlayer is good as well, easy to use.
Just make sure your DVD Player has the codecs installed. (You may need PowerCinema or WinDVD installed to do this, but you dont necessarily have to use them, though they are good programs).

PowerDVD is first class, and when watching DVDs with it will even allow you to take snap shots
For webbased stuff I also like Winamp (which I use for all my music).
